New York Giants Championship Parade Set For Tuesday

Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning hoists the Lombardi Trophy (US Presswire)

The victory parade for the 2012 Super Bowl champion New York Giants will be held in New York City, beginning at 11 a.m. ET, Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced Sunday night.

Here are the details, from WABC:

The parade will begin at Battery Place and Washington Street at 11a.m. and continue northbound up the Canyon of Heroes to Worth Street.

The parade will be followed by a ceremony at City Hall Plaza, at which the mayor will present the New York Giants with Keys to the City.

"Big Blue gave us a game to remember, and on Tuesday we're going to give them a parade to remember," Bloomberg said.

According to WABC, there is limited space at City Hall Plaza for fans. If you want tickets you can enter a giveaway at NYC.gov or the Mayor's Office Twitter page. That lasts only from 9-11 a.m. this morning. So, hurry up and enter if you want in.

Congrats to the Gaints, Coughlin and Fewell

After the Redskins game, I would not have put 5cents on this team to do anything in the postseason. What this team has done (flip a switch and become a different team instantly) is something that I have never seen any team do. Similary on the Pats side, I would have said that no team with the worst defense could ever win a championship, and they certainly COULD have…. so things have changed.

So whatever, I am not sure how they did it, and am not sure why were subject to such lousy uninspired football in the regular season from a group capable of this……. But the point remains that the object of this game is to win the Championship, period. And they have done it so whatever the rest of us naysayers might have to say simply ends up to be
hot air.

Congrats, I’ll admit I did not have the faith in this staff or some of our players…..and I was wrong.

Yep me too

I admit it also… at the time I figured that in at least one of those last 2 games they’d come out flat, blow a game and get embarassed. After how upset the ownership was after not making the playoffs last year, there was no way TC was going to be back, etc etc. Being wrong is sometimes pretty ####ing awesome.

Its funny because once they turned on the switch on defense, I went from having no confidence in them to having a lot. Now that its over, I can talk about it I guess, but going into the super bowl I honestly thought the Giants had a shot at blowing the Pats out. No doubt in my mind, anyway, that SF was the best team the Giants faced in the postseason and even before that game was played I figured whoever wins, wins the super bowl. Brady pretty much single handedly kept them in the game, IMO, but he had to play really, really well to do so.

Lots of stepping up and making big plays from roll players...

..and in opportune moments…Chase, Weatherford, hell even Jernigan got in there with a nice return. Ross played hard and made some physical stops in the first half. Tynes came through. The list goes on…

We expect the stepping up and making big plays from our cast of star players, but it bodes well for our squad when the bit players get in on the action. Love this team simply because it is just a that — a team, a unit that has bought in entirely to a philosophy and is there for each other to a man and to the bitter end.

Enjoy it, true believers...

I was in the right place in the right time in 2008 and managed to catch the paradein the Canyon of Heroes, the first of it’s kind for the New York Football Giants.

I was in grad school uptown at the time, and twice a week I interned off of Pearl Street in lower Manhattan. I just so happened to be downtown on that Tuesday, and I told the bosses I was going to be taking a long lunch that day. Dressed in professional attire, I managed to work my way to the very front of the crowd, pleading to the crowd to let me pass for work (hah!). I managed to secure a spot right in front of the CapOne on Broadway and Wall. Unfortunately, I did not have my digital camera on me at the time — I had no idea that I would be able to partake. Still, the memories are enough to last a life time.

If you have the means to do so, do attend on Tuesday. You deserve it — it is the team’s gift to New York and we all had a part to play in it.

let's take a minute to discuss what Eli did

Because it’s something that’s pretty rare in New York sports – and sports in general. He said “I’m in the elite level,” then went out and carried a sometimes mediocre team on his back during the regular season by having the best season for a QB in New York history, won the first playoff game in a new stadium, beat the No. 1 and No. 2 conference seeds on the road, then beat a certified genius and HOF QB in the fourth quarter on his way to winning the Super Bowl MVP. How many guys back up their talk like that? And he was pushed into saying it!

Who could ask for anything more???...and He gave the honest answer...

He’s the Master of comebacks…There’s a great picture in today’s paper..front page…It shows Eli standing tall…and below Brady sitting on the turf after throwing the Blackburn interception..Tells the whole story..right there..

I should have read this post before I made my post

Can you still attend the City Hall ceremony without a ticket (ie standing room)

in a sense

They aren’t going to let anyone without a ticket onto the City Hall grounds. But the ceremony will be outside (I work nearby and saw them setting up the stage). So if you’re on Broadway or Centre Street you’ll have some view of the ceremony and be able to hear it, I think. But you’ll be pretty far away.
