BIG QUESTION

do we bring back ham?!?

After that catch..

I think we have to, he was integral to the win. Feels great to be here again.

by ManningExpress on Feb 5, 2012 11:36 PM EST up reply actions   1 recs

Unless he's asking for a major contract, absolutely

Triple threat at WR is crucial, especially since we don’t have great TEs

You can save salary by cutting Diehl, Baas, Rolle, Ross etc.

There is no hope.... there is no future....there is only BLUE WALLS.

Baas and Rolle aren't going anywhere

Ross is a free agent so he has no contract to cut, Diehl could be cut, but I’d wait till I knew Beatty’s eye was good

Those guys would cost too much on the cap

Lot of bonus money woulkd count this year

My QB has 2 rings. Well, 3 if you want to get technical.

Baas just played maybe his best game

Rolle is an important leader on D

Plus with that big catch, Hams price tag may have gotten too high

Probably

Hakeem’s not up until 2014. We’re screwed in 2012 because we moved money around after the new salary cap was lower than in 2009. Unless we rework more contracts this year. But at some point we have to pay. We’re not Congress.

We’ll need to cut him. With one year left, his cap number will be low. Just checked – it’s only $750k to cut him. Diehl is $1 million, Jacobs is $2.5 mil.

No we dont

Draft a TE in the first round. . . rebuild the running game

We’ll have to pay Cruz and Nicks big money in the next fuew years. ..

We rely on the deep ball waaay to much, need to pound it out and control the clock, a good young TE could help that, Eli will make him great!!!

Let Cruz and Nicks play on the oustside.

On the third to last play of the Super Bowl the New York Giants were penalized for having 12 men on the field. However the Giants largely benefited from the play: The 5-yard penalty put the Patriots at their own 49, but New England lost valuable seconds and was prevented from completing a pass by the extra defender. After the play there was a mere 9 seconds left to move the ball over 50 yards.

I’d argue that the Giants sent the twelfth man out on the field on purpose, using a slightly altered form of Buddy Ryan’s "Polish Goalline" tactic:

The opponent is inside the 5 yard line going in to score. There is less than 15 seconds left. We want to stop their offense from scoring and in the process, we want to run the clock down to where they have enough time for just one play. So, we will stop them, get penalized half the distance to the goal, but leave them with enough time to run one play. We will then go back to our regular goal line defense and stop them to win the game.

I think Peyton’s fantastic, and as much as I love Eli Peyton’s hilarious, a class act, and way better than Eli (or rather was when he was healthy). Would have to have to root against him in any way.

We are entering a Golden Age of Giants Football!

Two Super Bowl Championships in five years, notwithstanding, we are entering a Golden Age of Giants Football. The Giants have strong ownership, a phenomenally successful GM, an elite Hall of Fame Coach, and an elite Hall of Fame QB in his prime.

They are young and talented with championship experience all over the field. The team will get even stronger with the return of several talented injured players. The offensive line needs to be reworked and addressed, but overall this will not be Eli/Coughlin’s last title, and something tells me that we will not have to wait 4-5 years for the next one. This is just a euphoric time.

dude I told Simms

after they beat GB, I really thought they were going to win it all BUT I could not deviate from my general miserablness just to keep the good karam going. He caught me yesterday being positive on this site. I was so sick of the media portraying the Giants as trash takers and how that was going to motivate BB and TB, horse shit, effing horse shit. I’m a miserable bastard but half of it is just masking nervous energy and confidence. I feel guity for being confident.

if Goff goes he should come back as depth

really all his play shows is that we need a veteran presence at MLBeezer (so this means don’t draft one early so we don’t have expectations of lots of playing time…).

But what a game, what a win. When the ball landed on the turf, I felt more relieved than excited. Don’t know where this ranks, but not many Super Bowls have gone to the last play like that. Great win for the Giants and thank goodness we don’t have to hear about the genius of Belichik for the entire off-season.

So happy for Coughlin, Congrats Eli on the MVP and the rest of the guys, they’ve done “the impossible” by beating the Belichik/Brady Patriots twice in the Super Bowl!

joking a bit but in all reality Brady paniked and through a pick on 1st down the really killed the Pats . . .

Eli kinda stayed cool and took what the D gave him and made plays.

Eli’s a wierd cat, week 3 vs a team like Seattle at home I’d take about 5 or 6 QBs over him . .. . week 20 vs a all time great, I’d take Eli over anybody, the guys is the defination of a big game player!!!!!!!!!!! I love him!!!!!!!!!

this one was special. I know its early. but adios big brandon Jacobs. I’ve been a loyal fan of yours since we drafted you..but I know this was your last game as a Giant. at the post game on field interview..its the way he said “I wish him the best” (when asked of eli)

"they try to do what he do, and been where he's been, but they get folded in two.....he's the dude"

by semsemma on Feb 6, 2012 12:26 AM EST via Android app reply actions

It's wierd

there are going to be some long time players not on the team next for two reasons.

1.) To make cap room and rebuild
2.) JR can, they just won as SB he can more agressive managing the cap and brining in new players

It’ll be wierd but they’ll have to do it and this championship makes it a lot easier

guys like BJ, Osi, MM, Ross, KMack, will be remembered as great Giants but I don’t think they’ll be here next year. Good luck fellas we’ll have fond memories of all of you some big time players, enjoy your second SB ring, you all earned it!!!!!!!!!!

by Landeta on Feb 6, 2012 12:30 AM EST up reply actions

imo

we should bring back MM Ross and other key guys. Ross has been damn good this year. and to think he was our #3 cab. not too many teams have that kind of talent for 3rd string. although I do believe he is better on the outside vs at the nickel inside.

Jacobs…ugh. he and AB match very well. we’ve seen Jake struggle w/o ab and an struggle w/o Jake. I’m not sure what to expect this coming year.

but good thing is..next year is not importat right now..we enjoying this one!!

A few things

A Giants or Pats SB will be freakishling entering

Giants will ALWAYS trailing at halftime of a SB . . . 10-9 SB 21 anyone?

Eli, Simms, Hoss, we might not be the Niners, Packers, or Cowboys with QBs but man we’ve had some big time permormances in SBs with our QBs

07 and 11 are freakishly similar, Super Star DE holding out, controvsery with Eli in the preason, 0 big FA signings even though we lost some key players, JR cutting OLman, terrible December loss to Wash, Awsome December 38-35 loss to top team in the league, Clutch huge win vs AFC East oppenet in wich Eli does not do much, beating GB in Lambeu, winning NFC championship in OT, beating NE in SB after “trash talking” all week! SB being freakishly similar to SB 42.

The 2 worst SB champions ever the 07 Giants and the 11 Giants. I’ll take it! I love it! We are so lucky to root for this team!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats from GangGreenNation

You guys deserved it. Your d-line and ultra-talented WR’s are incredible, probably two of the deepest units in the league at those respective positions. Seeing Brady and BB lose is going to be worth all the teasing that I’ll get as a Jets fan in Long Island lol. Anyway, we’re gunning for your championship belt next season!

I just want to say..

That I do not post here too often and I joined the site only a few years ago, but I always wished that I would have been here for the Super Bowl 42 run, but honestly I believe this one was ever better. I read all of your comments, win or lose and I honestly feel even though most of you do not know me, but to me you guys are an extended family. When I cannot sleep at night before a big game, when I am pacing around my house, sweating bullets, I take pleasure in knowing that I am not alone, and like you all, I am VERY proud to be a fan of the New York Football Giants.

I remember being a young kid, with my Dave Brown jersey, crying everytime the Giants would get blown out, or being jealous of my best friend who was a Cowboys fan, seeing his team winning Super Bowl after Super Bowl. Tonight however, it’s our turn, and I wouldn’t want to root for anybody else. Appreciate Eli while we have him, his caliber is tough to find.

I love you all and I love my Super Bowl Champion Giants!!!!
