Giants_icon_medium VS. Patriots_icon_medium
Date: Feb. 5, 2012 Location:

Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, IN.

Time: 6:30 p.m. ET Line: Patriots by 3
TV: NBC Radio: WFAN 660 AM
Westwood One

BY THE NUMBERS: The Giants have won 7 championships (1927, 1934, 1938, 1956, 1986, 1990, 2007), 3rd most in NFL history. ... The Giants are re 3-1 in SBs, including 17-14 win over NE in SB XLII... They won five games in a row, outscoring opponents, 141-67 ... The Patriots advanced to Super Bowl for seventh time in franchise history (3-3)...With win in Super Bowl XLVI, head coach BILL BELICHICK (3) can tie HOFer CHUCK NOLL (4) for most SB wins by head coach in NFL history. Belichick & QB TOM BRADY will make 5th SB appearance together, most by head coach-quarterback duo all-time.

It is almost time. The New York Giants and New England Patriots meet Sunday evening in Super Bowl XLVI at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. It is, of course, the sequel to the 2008 game, won by the Giants, 17-14.

Use this as your Open Thread. I will try to post quarter-by-quarter threads, but no promises. Enjoy!

You know something Giants fans

thanks for being class, thanks for being part of a classy organization, I’m pretty sure Coughlin would never cut a player the day before a game to get some obscure advantage which is trivial at best. Save face for all we NFL fans who don’t like the Patriots, you did it once, you can do it again!

no trouble

the Giants have been good to me before. SB Nation has this story about Tom Coughlin writing the fan a letter, but Jim Fassel wrote me a letter 11 years ago before I began my Mormon mission in Tucson and El Paso because I had written the Giants a letter wishing them good luck against the Ravens in Super Bowl 35. My Broncos had been beaten by Baltimore in the Wild Card round so I was angry at them, but Fassel wrote me back a letter, thanking me. He didn’t have to do that. That’s who the Giants are, that’s who the Maras are, and they are better than the Patriots!

Wow. Just wow.

I can’t believe we’re here. A couple of things.

1. Remember to enjoy yourself! Relax. They’re going to win, or lose. Take a deep breath. Savor the moment. Enjoy it, this is rare.

2. Remember that this is a big day for Ed and BBV. Don’t entertain trolls.

3. Have a water or two now! You sure won’t later.

4. Go Giants!

You PLAY to WIN the GAME.
Dear Tebow, please let the Giants beat the Patriots.

Oh Mighty Manning
Bring us to the Promised Land
Outplay the Brady
Oh Easy E !

The Three Wise Receivers
Nicks, Cruz and Manningham
Catch every pass
And Salsa to the endzone

O Mighty Defense
Stuff the run hard
And force 3rd and long
And then Nascar Brady down to the ground

In the name of Father Archie, Peyton and Eli
Go G-Men!!!!!

a colts fan i know who jumped on the tebow bandwagon when the colts went to the glue factory has been rooting for tebow since he started winning. now that the broncos are out, hes rooting for the patriots, its kinda surprising. but youd swear that the giants killed his dog or something as a kid since he roots so hard against us.

Years ago someone told Polynesian DNA that everyone was surrounded by sea monsters and it believed them. It made humans that were immune to head injuries, fast enough to run on the highway, and big enough to use the carpool lane. Putting two of them in the same ring is like telling your local tectonic plates to fuck themselves.

Of course

After all, we know scoring on one drive automatically makes your defense stop the other team on its drive.

It's an assumption, at best

You have no idea that the Giants would’ve milked it all the way to halftime.

The defense should've stopped them from going 96 yards

and tying the Super Bowl record for the longest TD drive in history.

I don’t understand on how that 3rd and 1 conversion we held the guy, but on that touchdown pass that wasn’t a hold.

Please, someone explain this to me.

I kinda agree with you

The majority of the holding calls in the playoffs have been on the Giants. And almost every one was ticky tack BS.

If that was holding

What are they doing to JPP? What did they do the Joseph on the TD pass?

Giants D better come out to ball in the 2nd half

They had no pressure except for the grounding play

Holding call on Boothe was a joke

Could have called PI for Nicks
Could basically call holding on almost every play on JPP
Welker stepped out at the 12 but of course the ref gives him 3 more yards and the first down

Not sure but it's much longer in the SB. Harrison is right on. Our DT's are getting NO push up the middle.

Move Tuck and Canty or Tuck and Bernard inside, and let Osi and JPP tee off on the end. Nearly all the pressure Brady faced in 07 started up the middle. Harrison is right. They better push the middle or Brady has way too much time.

by BigBlue9091 on Feb 5, 2012 8:00 PM EST up reply actions

Agree

Of course, when you’re two DE’s both don’t get past the line of scrimmage on a pass play, it makes things kinda tough. What the hell were JPP and Tuck thinking!?

tough half.

cannot believe how much time eli has had to throw on some of these plays…. and cant believe on most of then, the recievers are not really getting open.

pats will continue to neutralize pass rush by dinking and dunking, so fewell needs to keep rushing 4, or maybe even go to a 3 or 2 man rush, and keep guys clogging those lanes.

biggest thing is the pats are giving us the run…. eli needs to keep handing the ball off until the pats start bringing guys up.

we should feel good, guys, so f—-ing relax and enjoy the second half – the giants will do what they always do, which is start to make plays down the field late in the game and find a way to score.

by tulls200 on Feb 5, 2012 8:02 PM EST reply actions

just find a way to rattle Brady, he has all the time in the world, Eli is playing really well, I can’t fault what he has done thus far

No need to force anything just stay with the running game, and play action off of it
