Catch Up With Super Bowl Sunday Reading At SB Nation New York
I have tried to avoid excessively promoting the 2012 Super Bowl work that is being done over at SB Nation New York too much over the past week or so. Many of you realize, though, that SBN NY is my second home after this one. In case you haven't been following, I do need to take an opportunity to make you aware of some of the tremendous Super Bowl reading material available for you there.
I will just hit some of the highlights for you.
- The SB Nation New York Super Bowl StoryStream is a compilation written by SB Nation New York staffers and news desk contributors, myself included. There are currently 93 posts in the StoryStream, and I have to think you can find some worthwhile reading there.
- Jeff Freier advocates making Super Bowl Sunday a national holiday. Basically it is one, anyway.
- Chris Celletti wonders what a New York Jets fan is supposed to do Super Bowl Sunday with both the Giants and New England Patriots, the teams Jets fans hate most, playing for the big prize. I know you guys have zero sympathy, which is what will make this a fun read.
- You like Super Bowl commercials? SBN NY offers a preview of many of the ads you will see Sunday.
- Are you a gambling man? We have a StoryStream just for you filled with lots of useful information.

To be honest Ed,
I pretty much just stay in BBV land…Should I go over there?…If it benefits you I’ll check it out..

Bobbi, that's up to you
I just like to let folks know what’s over there. At times there are things posted over there that are different, so I like to let you know about them.
it's like a supplemental, Bob
stick with SB New York, the other stuff is irrelevant to us. It’s sort of a hub for all NY teams. So unless you’re a rangers/Knicks etc. fan, this is the time to check it out…
You PLAY to WIN the GAME.
Dear Tebow, please let the Giants beat the Patriots.

Spike Lee's Giants #56 Jersey
There’s been a lot of talk about Spike’s act at the Garden last night and I don’t really care about that, but as a long time fan one thing jumped out at me.
I think that might have been a game worn jersey he had on because it looked to me like it had the Spider Lockhart commemorative patch that they wore during the 1986 season. As far as I know those patches were never made available to the public, and jerseys were never sold with it on because I tried for years to find one.
Anybody else see it?

he could probably get his hands on one of the patches, or a reproduction
Of course, he could also get his hands on a game-worn jersey (and god knows LT can probably use the money). So it very well could’ve been a game-worn jersey.

Available for purchase today

In my mind’s eye, I remember the patch being black for some reason. Maybe someone else can verify that as well.
RACIST!

Just ordered FatHeads for all available Giants. Now I have something to aim at when punching holes in my wall.
Why is Simms punching that lineman?

I forgot that I'm so old my life is now a "throwback".
That fact honestly never occured to me — at least as far as the Gmen are concerned.
FYI the patch was blue on the white jersey
As for Spike, one of LT’s jersey’s went for $6,000 last year, the patch is on Ebay for $8. I’m thinking its a replica.

I find it sad and lame
that people can’t watch the Superblow because it has teams they “hate.”
I guess that is why fans of the Eagles and the Jets are… well fans of the Eagles and the Jets.
My Wife is a Patriot's fan...
"Giants rely on fumbles and stripping the ball. If the pats secure the ball, then the pats win, but if they fumble or let the ball get striped than the giants win. every game the giants play they always benefit from the other teams bonehead mistakes (fumbled or striped) not from thier skills. The giants are a dirty team, I can’t think of any othe team as dirty as the giants. They try to strip the ball as hard as they can because they know they can’t win a fair game." by EaglesNeedD on Jan 23, 2012 2:01 AM EST

I love these excuses or one-liners:
“Oh I’ll have the game on, but I’ll be with friends, family, and eating a lot.”
“Oh I will have to be super drunk to watch this game….”
Like you weren’t super drunk for any other game.
“I’ll take my wife out to a dinner and a movie…”
How? When your wife is going to watch the superbowl.

There’s no AFC team I hate that much, but if Cowboys or Eagles were playing the Jets or Ravens I’d have a hard time rooting for either team. Good thing that will never happen.

After I went to SBXXI, I looked for the patch for years to add to my Zeke Mowatt jersey. Little did I guess that throwbacks would be that authentic in the future.

Clay Mathews is a douche. This morning on Mike and Mike he gave no credit to the Giants for beating the Packers. He said the Pack picked the biggest game to play their worst game. He never mentioned anything about the Giants.
Clay your team should have lost by 31. You benefited by every bad call.

oh man
that’s awesome
honestly, though, I couldn’t care less what Clay has to say….he’s at home (work, etc.) right now like the rest of us. he had maybe 5 tackles in the game? maybe he didn’t come to play, like the rest of his team, but as the “great” Herm Edwards said, “you play to win the game”. I think it’s funny that players ever say something like “we lost the game, they didn’t beat us”, when it’s obvious that it has to be a combination of the two factors for a win to occur. The Giants played well, the Packers didn’t…end of story.
/rant
"Oh sir, the Giants of New York took on the Packers of Green Bay. And in the end, the Giants triumphed by kicking an oblong ball made of pigskin through a big "H". It was a most ripping victory."
awesomely correct sir
Clay Matthews has as much relevance to the Super bowl as I do.

Get a haircut, hippie!
He’s got a point, but the Giants still came out and took it to the Pack. It would have been a lot closer if the Packers played their best game, but it would have been a bigger blowout if the refs had played their best game.
He’ll be watching the Super Bowl at home, just like me. Excepting he’s probably got a bigger place than I do…

Maybe its just that i have a vested interest in this game....
But doesn’t it seem like more than any year before there are more sour grapes about a team in the Super Bowl than ever before in regards to the Giants. BGN, GGN, Clay Matthews, Aaron Rodgers; the list goes on and on. I have never seen so people so thoroughly upset that they all resort to every excuse in the book.
Come people; where is your manhood? Excuses are for losers. Take it like a man; be gracious in defeat and give credit to the winning side. Its sickening to see so many people making so many excuses.
To quote the movie “The Rock” ….
Losers always whine about their best. Winners go home and #@*$ the prom queen!
That said I am having an amazingly awesome time soaking in the tears of GGN and BGN reading all their whiny crybaby posts. Their tears sustain me.
SuperBowl Sunday a holiday??
No, no, no, no. That’s all wrong. It’s already a Sunday…. Hangover Monday? That’s your national holiday right there. If chicks get Valentine’s day, we deserve this one.

Seriously though
I don’t need the freakin’ government to tell me a football game has some greater national significance. It demeans real national holidays like Memorial Day to put the “national holiday” sticker of approval on a football game. I have no doubt some politician trying to score some easy approval number bump during an election year will actually take up the cause someday.
Go Giants!
that I totally agree with
I just would like to not have to go to work hungover the next day. I’ve been known to take that day as a vacation day in the past, especially because I usually host a party which means I’m up until 1-2 cleaning up and putting away. This year, even though I don’t want to, I’m hosting a party because I did 4 years ago and the karma/sitious Gods demand it.
Same here
Hosted the last time we won. Luckily I was already throwing one tomorrow, so the gods should be satisfied. Clean up is a bitch.
I heard an old Giants fan looking at TV’s and saying he wouldn’t buy it till next week. Didn’t want to upset the balance. LOL
Go Giants!
I agree Ron...
They should just call it “Don’t bother coming to work Day”…That would be okay…

They should just let everyone know that they won’t lean on anybody’s asses if nothing gets done. Nothing gets done anyway. They may as well play the nice guy routine and score some points.
Go Giants!
Yeah..that would be nice...

If this game holds true to form
It should be a great game to watch. The Giants and Pats have been in most of the close SB’s over the years.
The only that scares me is everyone picking the Giants and giving them the “more complete team” moniker.
On the other hand, they put Kraft on the cover of SI. I’d get my heart checked out before the game if I were him. He’s liable to drop dead in the booth the way that SI jinx works. I was afraid of it when they put the Gmen on for the Championship Game, but relieved to find out they put SF on for the West Coast version!

Perhaps a greater story, particularly for those of us living overseas...

U.S government seizes 307 domains for violating NFL copyrights
They did the same thing last year, rounding up atdhe.net and a few others, but they appear to have cast a much wider net this time. Supposedly, only sites with U.S. domain name suffixes ending in .net, .com, and .org were affected, but my lifeline overseas — firstrowsports.tv — is also down (looks like we have some sway over the government of Tuvalu)
Fortunately the Marines here will be showing the game after work on Monday (9:30 AM -1 PM EST) on the big screen,. However, since I do not have AFN and cannot watch the game in real-time without a stream, it appears that I will have to observe strict radio silence to avoid learning the score, which means ignoring the internet (and BBV) entirely. I pray some idiot at work doesn’t approach me on Monday and spoil the result.
If this persists and I cannot find an alternative to watch the game live, sadly, I will not be able to step up and make big posts with you all until well into Monday EST.
If anyone knows of a streaming site online that will carry the game and appears to be unaffected by the domain seizure, please let me know (email: stepupandmakebigplays@gmail.com). Thanks in advance.
