3 months ago, NOBODY thought we were going to the Superbowl. The New York Giants had just gotten blown out by the New Orleans Saints, and were in the midst of a season devastated by injury.
Before the season had even started they had lost their starting middle linebacker, 2 probowl defensive ends, would-be starting strong-side linebacker, starting cornerback, and several backup corners.
As the season wore on they lost still more depth in the ever important defensive secondary, their starting left tackle, and their new starting center suffered the first significant injuries of his career.
Adding to the Giants' woes, their quarterback, Eli Manning had been under siege since the start of the season when he dared to show self-confidence in public, even in the face of losing irreplaceable top targets in Steve Smith and Kevin Boss to free agency.
Clearly this was NOT a Superbowl caliber team... or even a playoff team. This was a team that needed to be blown up and rebuilt from the ground up, obviously.
But then something happened after that route in the Big Easy... rather than collapse as many predicted, this team came together. Rather than give up, they went all in.
The next week they gave the undefeated Superbowl champion Packers all they could handle (more than, if we're being honest with ourselves). They took down their hot rivals the Cowboys twice, and the team they share MetLife Stadium with the Jets to secure the NFC East title and a playoff berth.
Once in the playoffs, they defeated the equally hot Atlanta Falcons with a defensive shut-out to punch a ticket to Lambeau for a rematch with the Pack. They won that contest in impressive fashion to secure a plane ticket to the NFC Championship game in San Fransisco. Eli Manning ignored the beating of his career to carry the Giants past the '9ers and to the Superbowl. The New York Giants are in The Superbowl.
Now, I've been doing this for every game since the 2nd game against the Dallas Cowboys... ALL IN!
