The Osi Conundrum

Before I start I would just like to say this is my first time posting on this site.

It has been well documented that Osi does not like his contract and is looking for a new one. We are also aware of our cap situation (7.2 M over) and that the Giants have some tough decisions to make this off-season regarding our free agents and shoring up areas of need. Because of this, It appears that Jerry Reese and the front office will most likely address these needs in the draft and not in free agency.

Osi only played in nine regular season games this year but played well in them, producing nine sacks. He also had 3.5 sacks and a forced fumble in the playoffs. His injuries this season will most likely not significantly deter teams from considering him, as anyone can get a high ankle sprain and his surgery in the beginning of the season was just a cleanup.

After his strong performance, it is realistic to assume that a team in dire need of a premier pass rusher would surrender a first round pick for Osi this off-season. In my opinion, i would take that in a heartbeat. Osi has been an integral part of the Giants since 2003, but he wants and new contract (and quite frankly, he deserves one) and we are just unable to give the one that he wants with our cap situation. With that additional first round pick, we can address many of our multiple needs. Also, it will give the Giants the opportunity to move Kiwi back to the DE (his natural positions, which he is a beast at) if we draft a strong side LB early in the draft.

What are your thoughts?
