Great News Fellow Giants Fans; Chad Jones Cleared To Play
http://www.giants101.com/2012/02/15/new-york-giants-chad-jones-cleared-to-play-signs-two-year-extension/
This is an unexpected piece of Giants news. As many know, Jones was targeting an April return date, when offseason training starts, but to hear he has been cleared today means he is ahead of schedule. He passed a physical (though not administered by the Giants) and was given medical clearance to practice without limitations by his personal doctor. Hopefully he can return to full strength by the time training camp rolls around, and can contribute to the defending champs this upcoming season. Great to hear Chad Jones has fully recovered from a car crash that nearly took his life. I'm also glad the Giants restructured the final 2 years of his contract in order to keep him around. Him being cleared to play football again shows the kind of determination and character he has. He will make a great addition to the Giants, and I'm proud he is going to be a Giant for the foreseeable future.
P.S.- Sorry about the link everyone. Don't know why it won't add the link as viewable, you're gonna have to copy paste it like the good ol' days of the interwebs.

Yea hoping Ed or one of the other admins sees this and gets it to the front page.
Just a great story all in all, and to see a guy come back from something that horrific to the point where he can play football again at a high level is truly remarkable.

Read Ralph Vacchiano's Post
Which is here — http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/giants/2012/02/chad-jones-will-be-at-giants-offseason-program
The G101 post is not quite correct. His doctors have given him permission to attend the workouts. He DOES NOT have clearance from the Giants to get on the field. He has clearance to lift weights.
Also, he did not sign a new contract. His contract was adjusted, that’s all.
It’s good news, but it’s not “he can put the pads on and try to make the team” kind of news.

i noticed it a few days ago on their facebook
but some of it seemed a little out there so i didnt wanna throw out some inaccurate stuff again (see the phantom stress fracture in bradshaws foot that nfl network told me about this season)

Yea I made mention of the fact his contrtact was restructured, and that he was cleared by his doctors.

Cleared
by his own doctors, not buy ours.
This is kinda like Peyton Manning’s situation. Could be months before the Giants clear him.
But it is great news nonetheless.
except he can actually participate in football activites
and still has 2 months to recover futher

He also passed a physical.
Not saying the physical he took will be a stringent as the one the Giants administer, but Peyton wouldn’t pass a physical right now, Jones did. And he was cleared to participate in any and all football activities, without limitations. One cannot say the same for Peyton. The two are incomparable. To me this indicates Jones will be 100% ready to go when training camp starts.

I Hope So
I posted a video the other day of him being interviewed by a TV station in NOLA – so I am rooting for him as much as anybody.
Peyton Manning was cleared to play by his doctors, but not by the Colts’:
That’s the only comparison, really.

Didn't know that.
Did he pass a physical?

seriously awesome news… now I wonder if he’ll be a S or LBzez

Safety all the way.
He’s the perfect fit for that 3rd safety/LB roll that Grant plays. If he can grasp the defense, he’ll be grant, accept probably run in the right direction, and faster. I’m excited to see him play.

hell yeah
just the fact this guy is walking is a miracle.
really hope he can get back up to speed, can be the perfect S/LB hybrid to man that 3rd safety spot Fewell loves
I see Blue, he looks glorious!
Damn, if this guy is able to see the field this season I hope everyone gives him a standing ovation
In some ways, a better comeback than Herzlich from cancer.

I don't think you can weigh the two.

I knew this kid was going to get a second shot as soon as i saw him running the 40 yard dash last year
The Giants just being the class organization that they are stuck with the kid and I think both sides here deserve a lot of credit. More so for Chad of course but the Giants did the right thing here.
I just wonder how this will effect his physical abilities or if he’ll ever be 100%?
I really hope so b/c the Giants could always use another DB
but is he even going to be a DB? or a LB? Is he even going to make the squad?
still a lot of question.
Fire Fewell
he said in an article a few days agao
he expects to be 100% by August. I sure hope he is right

He'll get a shot, at least
He plays a position where we need help, especially if Grant doesn’t come back.
Go Giants!
Arguing on the internet is like running in the Special Olympics. Even if you win, you're still retarded.
Hopefully he is up to par then we do not need to worry too much about DBs in the draft
This is not the 2007 team.
2011 NYG will have their own legacy.
just beautiful

Nice
This should give us more flexibility going into the draft. Safety shouldn’t be a “need” now with Grant getting up there in age and Sash not quite ready to make an impact on the defense. Doesn’t mean Doom with be an impact player next year, but hopefully he can come out and contribute.

I hope he gets to try out and see him in preseason or more. Be great story for 2012 season for us again. Good Karma to all. GO JONES
"They got a big-mouthed coach, a big mouth and a big-bellied coach that talks too much and now it's finally time to shut up- Brandon Jacobs
Between
Chad Jones (leg), Andre Brown (Achilles), and Mark Herzlich (Cancer/ankle), this team has some SERIOUSLY hungry and dedicated young football players. There’s a core of mental toughness and strength of will that so many teams lack.
Maybe JR does know what he is doing
when he goes with the talented but recently injured on the back end of the draft…
Regardless of what happens, No playoffs, playoffs, no superblow, superblow.... The 2011/2012 is one of my favorite Giants Teams of all time.

Ernie is the Man(ning)
so glad to hear that chad jones is making great progress.
according to the article said that Ed linked, both the Giants and chad jone’s camp expect him to be on the field sometime this summer. Even though the Giants’ doctors didn’t clear him yet, it seems as if they are pretty close to doing so. Good news indeed.
If you want to argue that Manning is a) not a great quarterback or b) not the best quarterback in franchise history your credibility is automatically shot.

The key physical he'll need to pass is from the Giants medical staff..
I’m happy he’s working hard and doing well, but you won’t see him on a field with the Giants until they clear him…

Here's his X-Ray. He had 1 metal rod and 2 screws in his leg.

As an Eagles fan I say good for him.
Nice to see somebody go through something that rough and return to football.
Defensive player of the year for 2011 is...
Wild_Eagle!
Yes, Wild_Eagle's infamous reputation did help him get this award. But he shows that he walks the talk that he serves...with his keyboard. Wild_Eagle protects the motherland (BGN) from the evils of noobs, douche-bags, and other assholes. Although he may be crude and unnecessary, all great defenders draws the yellow flag from time to time.
