First moves?

Here's my first fanpost, since I havcen't seen anything mentioned of this. Hope I get this right.

Was browsing the interwebz and found the following:

Giants signed to reserve/future contract:

G Chris White
DE Craig Marshal (practice squad last season)
TE Ryan Purvis

Star-divide

Any thoughts on these 3? Important or newsworthy? Looks like Purvis was team mate with JPP . White got some time with Packers, Seahawks, and Texans (giants training camp). Purvis was at USF with JPP.

Marshall

is another South Florida guy. That school’s brought us some pretty good talent already eh?

Seems that way.

This is not the 2007 team.
2011 NYG will have their own legacy.

Hey Welcome to the Fanposts

Here’s what I know. Rosters go to 80 now, so doing the math:

53 man roster + 8 man practice squad = 61

That leaves 19 slots to sign guys to non guaranteed contracts. Of course they also need to sign their practice squad guys and current free agents or replace them. So ….

You can expect about 20 signings between now and the draft. Then depending on free agency and who we draft, and then sign, you start to see cuts. Some guys get cut before OTAs. What I think should be the take away. As always, our GM is the man with the plan. Don’t discount this stuff though, it’s the process. Quality in winning team out, garbage in garbage out.

Eli is our King!

All three guys have good chances to make the roster.

Marshall – 6"4 280 and 24 years old – Keep in mind Tollefson, while playing well in his back up roll is 30 and a bit undersized at 265 and seems to get washed out against the run
(pff hates him)

Purvis – I have heard of this guy, known for good hands and has the BC connection. Could be a solid special team player and a decent receiving tight end to compliment the bigger Pascoe & Christian Hopkins – plus giants like 3 TE’s

Chris White – 28 year old center/guard hybrid guy that has been given praise from coaches but has not amounted to anything. Could consider cutting Snee who looked average at best this year and going with the best two out of White, Petrus & Booth. Before you guys yell at me about Snee, is going to make $6million and would certainly alleviate some cap pressures.

Snee

shouldn’t be declining this quickly IMO – most likely unspecified injuries that hopefully get healed up in the offseason. He just turned 30, which isn’t too old for a G.

Either way, if they’re convinced he’s shot, I doubt he gets replaced with a practice squad guy. It’ll be addressed in the draft or free agency perhaps. That $6M would look good on a couple of the FAs out there (Carl Nicks from NO in particular).

boothe, and petrus

are not practice squad. Petrus seems to be a very active run blocker with some character flaws (over excitement at times)

Right

I meant Chris White. I love Petrus and think he’ll be a great starter. Boothe I prefer as a super sub.

I tell ya, though, the more I think about Carl Nicks in blue, it’s growing on me. Just don’t know how it could possibly happen.
