Congratulations From a Raiders Fan
I just wanted to stop by and congratulate you on another very impressive run through the playoffs to capture the Lombardi Trophy. With this victory comes the elimination of any doubt that Eli Manning is an elite quarterback and that you made the right move in trading for him with San Diego. It all comes down to the ultimate prize and you have 2 to their 0!
Big changes are probably on the horizon for your team but all of that is in the future. Live in the now and enjoy this victory as long as you can. You have reached the summit of the mountain for the second time since 2008 and you once again get to look across at the devastation at your feet. Once again you met the Patriots and once again you crushed their dreams. It is an impressive feat and one that many of you are not shocked about. The confidence that your fans consistently show in the Giants is commendable. There is not much more pressure that a team has put on them than what the New York Giants go through. Yet year in and out your team not only battles through that pressure but thrives upon it. Last year hurt with the late season collapse costing you the playoffs and letting the Packers into them, but you immediately bounce back with this year's run. That is a heart and passion that any fan should be proud to see from their team. Being an Oakland Raiders fan I have never gotten to experience the thrill of my favorite team winning the Super Bowl. The closest I came was watching them get annihalated by their beloved former coach and it is a memory that still haunts my football fanhood today. I just wanted to stop by and congratulate you on reaching the pinnacle that the NFL has to offer again and to tell you to cherish every moment of it. I am sure each and every one of you already are doing that but it is always good to get a reminder that not every fan is so lucky to get moments like these!FanPosts are written by community members. lol thanks for your helpful response
Figured it out anyway though, looks a lot better now lol

Thanks...
I wanted to vote for the SB42 win as the most satisfying but I voted for SB46. It’s close though. So many similarities between the two runs but I really am enjoying that these guys pulled it off after 3 recent late season breakdowns.
They weren’t supposed to win SB42 but they SHOULD have at least made it to SB43. I consider SB46 the repeat that took 3 years to happen – that is satisfying to me.

+1
42 was pure joy
46 I was angry. I wanted revenge and I wanted to shove it up the Eagles and Jets asses. I really wanted this one.

it’s been a fun year. FYI it was 2007 not 2008, but we know what you meant. If its any consolation, you’ll forget that SB loss as soon as you guys win one. We here at BBV never even mention the one we loss, in fact, most people don’t even realize we’ve been in 3 SBs since 2000.
Win another SB...CHECK!
Prove all the naysayers wrong...CHECK!
Stock the team with a young, core group of studs...CHECK!
Damn it's good to be a fan of the NYG
Let's Go Giants!!!!
A fun year? Lol.
If you say so. Thanks for the props MAK. The Raiders are my brother’s favorite team so I understand your pain. Much luck in the coming year.
If you want to argue that Manning is a) not a great quarterback or b) not the best quarterback in franchise history your credibility is automatically shot.

thanks, i always get confused on which year the super bowl is considered for.
Funny thing is i didnt use the same reasoning with the 2011 choice lol youd think if i was a year off on one id be a year off on the other, but thats just too logical!

Regardless of what happens, No playoffs, playoffs, no superblow, superblow.... The 2011/2012 is one of my favorite Giants Teams of all time.
why cant this be a yes and no question
its not fair to make me pick, but the 2008 being my first, i suppose that would be it

that win against the cowboys was the best ever, almost better than beating the pats. Seeing Jerrys face on the sideline after Romo threw the pick was priceless

Jerry does make some entertaining faces at the end of a losing game to the Giants,
This is not the 2007 team.
2011 NYG will have their own legacy.
thanks!

Thanks for the kind words
I used to go to Raider games when they played in the LA Coliseum when they played the G-men. I would wear my Giant gear but I went with Raider fans, so I survived the experience. Raider fans are just as passionate about their team. You guys will get back there again. Now that Al has gone to greener pastures, it appears the Raiders are going to bring in some new football blood and perhaps get the team turned around shortly. I don’t see anymore of those Jamarcus Russell picks happening. Palmer will be better this year, if they keep him and if McFadden stays healthy you have some tools to make some noise in the AFC West.
Thanks, I agree the regime that has come into Oakland is impressive and I believe we will finally evolve like we should have long ago

The 2008 one was great but I was more shocked than anything
I didn’t enjoy the ride that much. I followed the 2012 so closely that I could really enjoy the journey.
Team Ghost: Manningham, Sintim, Beckum, Barden, JPP, Anvil, Ross
2008 SB > 2012 SB
To me the 2008 SB run was more satisfying because of who we beat.
Jeff Garcia (who played for the Eagles and won 5 games in a row after Mcnabb got hurt to make the playoffs I believe)
Then to beat Tony Romo in Dallas to continue his reputation
Then to deny the annoying Brett Favre a return to the Superbowl.
Then Knocking off the Patriots perfect season. The New England (ie Boston) only way it could have been better was if we had beat the Eagles to get to the superbowl in that year

The other one was epic, sorry you missed it but there are few causes more respectable of reasoning for missing it than boot camp.

Go with God
It looks like Al’s son isn’t going to be the hands off owner you guys need and your stadium situation is in the bottom few of the league.
i went to a Giants Raiders game in 1987 or 88 in the LA Coliseum. That was an experience,
Thanks again for SB XV! That was the most satisfying Super Bowl for me other than the Giants 4 wins.

Huh? I suggest you brush up on the current state of the RAIDERS, boy. You clearly don’t know what you’re talking about. I know you don’t care, but Mark Davis has said he doesn’t know anything about football, which is why they hired a real GM. Reggie McKenzie. You might have heard of him. But probably not. Knowledge is power.

I think the Raiders have an awful lot of talent over there
They just need to play disciplined football. You cannot break records for penalties and or lead the league in them every year and expect success.

i respect Tom Coughlin in the things he does and the way he does them.
Just his slogan messages for the team are great such as:
- Talk is cheap, play the game.
- Finish
- Respect all, fear none.
It takes discipline to do things. Otherwise all teams have talent on their rosters.
This is not the 2007 team.

I would have to say I disagree with Mark Davis being a hands on owner, he has left all the football decisions to McKenzie and Allen
He has been doing what he can for our football stadium but a team without a winning record for a decade is always going to be screwed there lol I can not believe we ever agreed to play on a damn baseball diamond let alone continue to do so after this many years.
It absolutely is one of the worst stadiums in the NFL and it looks like we decided not to share the Niners new stadium either, which I dont understand. You guys share with a cross town rival and it works fine, thats what we should be doing too. Mark Davis is definitely fairly hands on for the financial aspects and the stadium details but he has definitely said he wont be in the football side which is great.
Reggie McKenzie is going to be a great GM I think and I am excited for the future of our team,. although if we cant stop the penalties we will never succeed.

I voted for 2011
I know it may sound weird b/c the Giants broke a drought in 2007 and b/c of how they won and who they beat in 2007.
but this season, or should I say, going into the season, I thought the Giants were capable of winning it all, and it wasn’t blind faith or a homers gut feeling, they had won a few years prior, and they had a stacked roster. I also believe that it wasn’t just me who felt this way, but also opposing coaches and teams. No one slept on the Giants this season. In fact, they did the opposite…and the Giants still ran the table
Fire Fewell
I had to vote 2008 because...
That game was what made me a Giants fan for life. The stakes were much higher, so the drama was too, and the ending was like that of a Hollywood movie. Seriously, watch the final drive and listen to “My Hero” by the Foo Fighters during the last few plays leading up to the last TD.
In this year’s playoff run, while I didn’t want to say it out loud and jinx it, I knew deep down in my heart they were going to win the Super Bowl, so to me the drama and excitement was just not the same. A satisfying sequel but not quite like the original.
I should also add
Pats fans were way more smug back then, and I was attending school in Boston, so the gloating the day after was much more satisfying.
I said it that night
I could live to be 95 and never see a better one than that, right after Super Bowl 42.
Completely unexpected, I was living in enemy territory, and felt the weight of the world on me for that run. Constant doubting and nay saying by soooo many. Every anylist (except for Deion Sanders) telling us we had no chance. Us v the world. Biggest underdog in recent history. Jerry Jone’s disrespect, Brett Farve old overrated ass, Eli haters, Brady laughing… And Big Mike Stomping Out everything.
Watching the collective faces in the room I watched the game in (fans off many different teams, including the Pats) as they realized what WE already knew, that we were game for this one. Screaming “throw it!” at the top of my lungs when Eli sprung free.
And that shot of Eli… with the weight off of his shoulders. I think I felt exactly what he felt at that moment. It was the ultimate moment as a fan, when your team does what everyone was so sure they couldn’t do.

nah,
this year there was talk about how the Giants should be favored. The Pats got a lot of sympathetic pieces written about them.
And I expected to win this thing. Once we beat GB it became clear to me that we were the best team left standing. This one to me at least became about finishing the job we came here to do. 42 seemed more miraculous to me.
You down wit JPP?
I got 99 problems but a Vick ain't one!
I voted SB 42
42 had a much more satisfying ending with The Catch, followed by a gorgeous TD pass, and then Brady getting sacked, sacked, and sacked again.
The Manning-Manningham pass was so perfect it just looked too easy (despite the degree of difficulty being through the roof). Also the Bradshaw TD was hilarious and awkward. Also the game ending on a failed Hail Mary just wasn’t as satisfying as a dominant defensive series. Maybe if J-Will picked the pass off rather than bat it down…
I am much more insightful for the Raiders because of S&BP, SB Nation sites are really cool and knowledgable.

Dear Tebow, please let the Giants beat the Patriots.
That formula is not going to apply here. That time we lost our main coaches and ended up with Ray Handley then Reeves then Fassel took us to SB. We also had to endure Dave Brown Etc. Now we have a QB & coaches in place. We have potential to repeat.
This is not the 2007 team.
2011 NYG will have their own legacy.
Thank you Marcus......
Very nice that you took the time to Congratulate our Giants! I am definitely celebrating this one right up to Kickoff 2012………I was fortunate enough to go to the SuperBowl this year so this one will be the most special one to me. XLII may have been the absolute best but for me XLVI will always be the one that holds the most memories. It was an experience like NO other!!
