Giants' injury report: Hixon, Williams out

Jim O'Connor-US PRESSWIRE

Could this FINALLY be the week safety Kenny Phillips returns to action for the New York Giants? Phillips, out since injuring his knee in Week 4, is once again listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers.

Phillips appeared likely to play three weeks ago against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but the Giants held him out.

"I’m playing. I’ve practiced everyday this week. It felt pretty good; I didn’t have any setbacks, so I look forward to playing Sunday," Phillips said Friday. "I’m way more confident than I was when we played Pittsburgh just because I was going through those practices back then two weeks ago and I was still kind of sore, (but) this week, I’m not having that problem. I’m running around, I’m participating fully in practice, not taking any plays off. I feel pretty good. I like my chances."

If Phillips is able to return it would give the Giants the ability to employ a three-safety look that they utilized extensively the past two seasons.

Here is the complete report

OUT
WR Domenik Hixon (ankle)
LB Jacquian Williams (knee)

Questionable
S Kenny Phillips (knee)
LB Keith Rivers (knee)

Probable
RB Ahmad Bradshaw (foot/neck)
DT Linval Joseph (knee)
C David Baas (ankle, elbow)
S Tyler Sash (ankle)
G Chris Snee (ankle)

Without Hixon as the third wide receiver the Giants will look toward fourth-year man Ramses Barden and rookie Reuben Randle to step up. Each has had some success this season, but neither has shown the consistency the Giants have been seeking.
