Selvish Capers added to Giants' 53-man roster

The New York Giants today promoted offensive lineman Selvish Capers from the practice squad to fill the roster spot vacated last week when Markus Kuhn was placed on injured reserve. Offensive lineman Stephen goodin was added to the practice squad.

The move is perhaps a touch surprising as the loss of Kuhn and the knee issues currently being experienced by Linval Joseph leave the Giants a bit short-handed at the defensive tackle position. The flip side of that is that the Giants also recently released backup offensive lineman Mitch Petrus.

Capers (6-foot-5, 315 pounds) spent last season on the Giants' practice squad and has been on the practice squad all of this season as well. He was drafted by the Washington Redskins in 2010.

Since they are not adding a defensive tackle to the roster this obviously means the Giants are hoping that 2010 second-round pick Marvin Austin is finally ready to make a real contribution to the defense.
