Giants Projection from Offseason

The New York Giants were the champs in 2011, but their season was up and down as the Giants are known for during the season. They didn’t have a strong record to finish the season but got into the playoffs toward the end of the season with their defense, Eli Manning making plays when needed, the run game, and the emergence of Victor Cruz. Once in, they were able to beat the Patriots for a second time in the Super Bowl. As a Vikings fan the Super Bowl was whatever to me. I didn’t want either team to win it, but someone had to. Now for this season the Giants went and just filled in spots from their departing players on defense and to fill in for the injured TE Jake Ballard. Now that Jake signed with the Patriots, much to the dismay of the Giants on that whole process, the team is now looking toward Martellus Bennett to step up along with strengthening their TE core with adding three more TE’s through the draft and free agency along with resigning Bear Pascoe.

With the Giants in recovery mode still this season, they better hope they are ready to go from the get-go this season because they sure do have a very tough schedule. When doing my predictions for this season for the team I had a tough time nailing it down whether they will be playing very tough teams each week who have greatly improved this season or are just reloaded and ready to go. With the state of the Giants right now, it is tough to see how the team will come out Week One. Along with their tendency to have a very strong game one week and then just come out the next week making mistakes and losing to less stronger teams.

For me it’s more of a wait and see kind of thing with the Giants, since you don’t know how they’ll perform each week. With the organization giving head coach an extension this season, the Giants will be in the hands who can somehow get this team into the playoffs toward the end of the season and play their strengths in the playoffs to get Super Bowl wins. It will be interesting if the Giants can repeat again this season as champs. They will have a very tough road from the start. It won’t let up either, so trying to repeat this season will be a battle.
