From the Perry Fewell Transcript released on the Giants official site today (10/25/12):

Chase is really the key to our success because he’s the quarterback of our defense. He plays, and he gets everyone lined up, he gets everyone on the same page, and makes sure they have the proper coverages and getting the guys up front doing the things they should be doing. In addition to that, he plays his technique and responsibility. I think Chase has been playing very steady for us. He’s been doing the job of a Mike linebacker, and what a Mike linebacker should do. I’m glad he’s on my football team.

So, in case anybody was wondering how the coaching staff felt about Chase Blackburn, this is your answer. Again, indicating that despite the fact that the Giants may not see him as the long term solution, Chase is doing exactly what the Giants picked him up off the couch to do. Anybody in the market for a new jersey should strongly consider 93 in an effort to appeal to the football gods and perhaps have Blackburn's legacy cemented as the one and only three-time Super Bowl winning linebacker in Giants history.
