You know that joke about the 2 guys in the woods who come across a bear.
First guy says we need to run for it and the second guy says no there's no way to outrun it - first guy responds by saying I don't have to outrun the bear I just have to outrun you!...
Well imagine the bear being the NFC East schedule, you don't have to come out 14-2 , you just have to be better than your division rivals to make the play offs.
The division shares the same schedule with the exception of 2 unique games - which are based on how the teams finished the previous year - Giants winning the division will face division winners Packers and 49ers,
Last year and coming into this year there was talk about how tough the schedule was/is for the Giants. Interesting enough there is something happening that is reminding me of last years road to the play offs... (its the 2 unique games and how our division is not taking advantage of their "easier games".
If the Giants win more common games, and split the division games (3 - 3)- it's possible like last year that the 2 unique games are a non factor. Should the Giants be successful in their unique games - watch out NFC East.
2011-2012 Results:
Here you see how the division rivals missed an opportunity to win their unique games - making the Giants tougher match up a mute point.
This years: Cowboys already gave up both their unique game while Eagles fell to the Cardinals. Here's to hoping the Lions can get their act together and come out swinging hard when they play the Eagles in Week 6.
With 0-2 division start the Giants have some catching up to do here.
