Lawrence Tynes
I know he isn't the best kicker out there. He doesn't have the biggest leg or the best accuracy. He certainly gets his fair share of kicks blocked too.
Having said that, I think we should really recognize Lawrence Tynes if we haven't already. Not many Giants fans are wild about the guy, but every since he came to the Giants in 07, he has made his fair share of clutch kicks. Against the Packers in 07 and the Niners yesterday notwithstanding, he just comes through in big situations. I just wanted to make this FanPost so I can thank him, and hopefully we can appreciate what he has done for this team over the years.

clutch yes
However, he makes it look difficult. He scares me badly when he kicks. I wouldn’t mind if the Giants got a kicker that is more reliable from 45+ for next season. Just not a rookie.
I have not liked for untill this year. It seems he;s become a better player

This year
They haven’t asked much of Tynes because the offense has been good at scoring TDs and at getting into the red zone. Out of kickers who played all year, Tynes was tied with the fewest attempts – only 24. Then, out of those attempts, 12 were 29 yards or fewer and 4 more were between 30 and 39 yards (he made 3 of 4). He simply hasn’t kicked much, and the kicks he’s had haven’t been that challenging. He’s 3 of 5 from 40-49 yards and 1 of 3 from 50 and beyond – not particularly good, although I think a couple of those were blocks. Basically, he’s made the kicks a kicker should make, and been a bit iffy on the long ones.

I agree
but to be fair, one of those two misses would have been a Lambeau postseason record, and the one he DID make was even further away.
I think he said after the game that it was like kicking a piece of cardboard in those conditions. Hard to fault him TOO much.
This is a sig.

He said it was like kicking a rock
I also read recently that after the game when he took his shoe and sock off his foot was totally black and blue. Then during the week it swelled up like a softball on the top of his foot and they had to drain it so he could play. He didn’t practice until the Wed before the SuperBowl.

could u blame him.
I may not be the most noble of men but in a town of lepers, im the one with the most fingers.
Giant LB'zz SUCK!! Mark Herzlich, Jacquian Williams,...Maybe .. Sadly this has been modified.
Tynes scares me a lot of the time
However what i do like about the guy is if he does miss one or two FG’s he won’t go into the tank like Feely did against the Seahawks. Having said all that Tynes has booted us into two SB’s so I agree with giving him his props.

This team without Tynes
Just would not be the same. Tynes epitomizes the pain, the suffering, the ups, and the downs, of Giants fans everywhere. To have anyone else in there would not make sense because feelings of security and comfort are not Giants football.
