Schadenfreude?

After any big Giants win, I make sure to not only devour every morsel of of news and notes here at BBV, but also the anguished cries of the damned.

Below you will find the best of Bleeding Green Envy's game thread. Disclaimer: I don't support trolling and senseless fighting. I think it's great to read, that's all. Now you can read it here, without even going there! So, here it is: The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly!

Star-divide

The Good:

giants suck and will lose

by eagleflownsouth on Jan 22, 2012 3:11 PM

I’m so nervous we’re going to have a Giants-Pats SB again. It will be the end of me. If that happens… seriously, worst NFL season ever.

don't worry niner's got this -- by the way , ignore my comment on the ravens/pats thread "ravens got this"

by eagleflownsouth on Jan 22, 2012 3:17 PM

I literally will not watch the superbowl for the first time in my life if it’s NY vs. pats

if eli leads a drive and then the super bowl i will never watch sportscenter again. they will all be saying he is better than peyton

He’s the next steve smith. An all pro on the Giants but sucks everywhere else.

by andyb on Jan 22, 2012 7:04 PM

This is literally the worst NFL season I’ve ever experienced. This whole season has been a nightmare.

by PhiladelphiaEagles on Jan 22, 2012 7:42 PM PST reply actions

After the giants lost their 4th defender to a season-ending knee injury in the preseason... and lost two of their key pass catchers to free agency, I was thinking “man I feel sorry for them… I’m gonna feel guilty when the Eagles beat them 52-3”

hate the Cowboys and I hate them both more than the Giants. But I still hate the Giants.

by macjack09 on Jan 22, 2012 6:49 PM

i’m not pro terrorism by any means, but if terrorists wanted to take something out, this year’s super bowl would be alright with me
by agam22 on Jan 22, 2012 7:36 PM

Just wow. Two calls for terrorist attacks. Here's a hint, guys: If you ever start out a sentence with "I'm not pro terrorism, BUT" ... stop talking. Forever.

At this point someone suggests mass trolling of BBV...

True, Ed "the [expletive] [expletive]" Valentine will ban anyone for any comment that does not praise the Giants

by eagleflownsouth on Jan 22, 2012 3:56 PM

Hope you enjoyed. Here's a little bonus material from Blogging the Boys, which as you can imagine was much better, mature, and normal. They even had guys saying the Giants are good and not lucky, and some will root for the Giants. But here are two that I thought were the funniest....

I'll repost this again....
Brandon Graham is better than Jason Pierre-Paul. Brandon Graham generated more pressure than JPP, JPP had one of the lowest PRP ratings in the NFL last year. JPP has never faced anything other than single blocking and he never got a sack he didn’t just walk into. Brandon Graham had more hits and more hurries along with the best PRP rating of any rookie defensive end..

Complete lack of NFC East pride in Philly

I remember cheering for the Redskins in their Super Bowl years. And while I would never root for Dallas (that expansion franchise), I was not personally invested in their failure. I have supported Philly in their postseason games against opponents less worthy (damn Berman and his Seahawks love).

I blame Dan Snyder. If he kept his Redskins more competitive, the rivalries would be more spread out.

Only say that becuase one of my best mates is a die hard eagle fan

After watching the Giants beat the Niners for the right to go back to the SB, he got pretty depressed becasue in his entire 40 some odd years of rooting for the Eagles they have never won anything not once, even older Redskin fans have memories of their team being the best, Eagle fans have none.

Seriously!!

I get PLEASURE out of the fact that the Iggles fans have never tasted ultimate success! Growing up just outside of Philly as a Giants fan has left be feeling nothing but joy and pleasure at the misery of Filthadelphia fans. I am young enough (28) that until the Phillies won recently my favorite thing to say to most of my friends who were Philly fans was that NONE of their teams had won anything in their lifetime!

I completely agree

As a fellow 28 year old Giants fan who grew up outside Philly, their misery is my joy. I live with an Eagles fan. He had to shave every hair on his body after we beat them the first game this year. Luckily he didn’t want to bet on the 2nd game. It’s really annoying living here being surrounded by delusional Eagles fans. It’s like you can’t even go to 7-11 wearing Giants gear without someone talking shit.

That’s why it’s great trolling them during the games because all they ever do is whine. that this ridiculousness starts at the top. The editor and writers set the tone, and the masses follow their lead.

I always wonder if these are just the loud majority. What are the odds that this is the case, I dunno, but the historical evidence that they are the majority is overwhelming, IMO

Jimmyk is actually hilarious. In the good way, the guy has a sense of humor.

Oddly enough, most of the Eagles “fans” I know are actually very humble, kind individuals. They are real fans who are just as passionate about their team as we are. The abrasive dickheads are not fans at all, just Insecure bandwagon fakes that haven’t ever followed a squad during a low point. Same thing could be said about any organization, obviously with varying degrees of wagon-quantity.

Granted, every team has those fans who are selfish douche-canoes…also in various degrees.

The culture of the haters and nut jobs is a repellant to the decent ones.

It comes from the top of the site, the guys who run it.

Yes, there’s a lot of total insanity and antisocial mentality in the general philly fan base, but BGN kind of concentrates and amplifies that online as well.

BTB on the Jerry Jones Jaffe
We both know you hate Dumbface. All Jerry did was acknowledge the obvious, Dumbface played well this year, still not as good as Romo, but well enough to get NYG into the playoffs. And why was that? New York’s line did a better job preventing sacks (until last night) and was better at generating sacks, and consistent pressure.

Like I said above, in games 1 vs GB and Dallas, Romo and Rodgers matched Eli in shootouts. In games 2 vs GB and Dallas, the Giants defense shut down the Packets and Cowboys offenses, while Eli still played well. In the 2nd meetings the Giants won by 17 because their pass rush dominated the offensive lines, giving the secondary more time to challenge receivers.

In games 1 and 2 neither the Dallas defense nor the GB defense did anything to stop Eli.

I assume Dumbface is Eli
For the sake of “Arguement” Regular Season
ELi – 61% completion percentage, 4,933 yards 41 TD 16 INT
Romo 66.3% completion percentage, 4,177 yards 31 TD 10 INT

With the Postseason
Eli 61.1% completion percentage, 5,856 yards 49 TD, 17 INT
Romo’s stat line the same since he’s been on his couch.

Its funny

because in my championship game I benched Romo for Matt Ryan. I had this feeling that Romo was going to suck. I won by 1.2 points.

14-0 this year!

But yeah, Romo did great throughout most of the year for FF. Awesome for a 4th round pick.

My Wife is a Patriot's fan...
"Giants rely on fumbles and stripping the ball. If the pats secure the ball, then the pats win, but if they fumble or let the ball get striped than the giants win. every game the giants play they always benefit from the other teams bonehead mistakes (fumbled or striped) not from thier skills. The giants are a dirty team, I can’t think of any othe team as dirty as the giants. Cowboy fans kill me with the Eli hate

Eli has some of his best games against the Cowboys and kills them every year and they insist Eli stinks or he is not really that good. Have to check the Stats but Eli last couple of years has to be averaging 300 yards and like 3 TD’s a game versus Dallas.

Considering the Giants lost to the proposed worst team inthe NFL in a preseason game can’t mean anything good for this extremely weakened team. Eli Manning is horrible and will continue his decline as Coughlin keeps crying after every game in the press conference room.. this team is a complete joke. Maybe worst int he NFC east. Unfortunately yes, the lousy Jets have now passed the Giants as the better team in NY.

The Giants will probabaly move to LA because they suck so bad

Hey Giant fans I heard a statement made by Eli "Duffus" Manning yesterday on the radio after practice and quote: "I’m a quaterback that is in the elite level of Tom Brady" Wow!!! what a statement from a quaterback that had 25 picks last year. Duffus need to grow up because he is starting to believe that he is better than his big brother. Why did he pick the best pound per pound quaterback of the NFL for the past ten years. His big head has to many loose nuts and to many cowwebs. Now Duffus has to prove everybody wrong with that statement, if he fail he should be benched. To me Pisartchik was better than him

Speaking of definitions

Troll: In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, , or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response.

Your post is the most offtopic, so enjoy being labeled a Troll. And I know the sign says not to feed you, but sometimes I can’t help myself.

We have all been discussing your delusions and malcontent at our team’s good fortunes. Accrediting it to luck, the refs(laughable), the nfl being fixed, and whatever else. So we are on topic, we are enjoying your misery/misfortune.

If you would like to post what you consider to be Simms-McConkey’s Troll attempts, I’m sure this thread could use some more blockqoutes, but I can’t insure that you will get the reception you want.

Let's just clarify

Its nt simply the misfortune of Eagles fans, that’s too far reaching.

It’s the swallowing of hubris that some Eagle fans spewed like Old Faithful all over this blog in the off season. I’ve got no problem with anyone that doesn’t act like a big hoser.

I still remember that Redskin fan from week 1, all drunk and foaming at the mouth, I’m pretty sure he’s drinking vinegar now too.

clarification complete

and agreed. i can remember more then a handful of times other blogs guys came by us just to make sure we knew about all the season ending injuries and losses to free agency the giants had gone through… O and how we’re going to be 3rd in the division, if we’re lucky.

the expectations were low (especially for everyone who doesnt consider themselves a giants fan) but the result has been beyond our wildest dreams. basking in that heap of glory, along with the misery of the pre-season gloaters, is pretty satisfying.

by Plaxico Burress on Jan 25, 2012 4:29 PM EST up reply actions

Veeerrrrryyyyyyyy satisfying!

And funny as well. The way that they go from hopeful to crushed while watched our team play and defeat thier past playoff opponents is the best part.

I'm old enough to pre-date these blogs

In the old days when you had these talks face to face, in a dorm TV room, or pub etc. it was far clearer then. The profanity and personal attacks are meant to silence opinions, not further a discussion. That’s why I say it’s weak leadership to allow it. Because even when someone’s opinion is weak and unsupported, it furthers the discussion by having a forum where you have to be able to defend your ideas.

Above someone referred to how the Packers site was defiled by a Lions fan. Since the mods over there allowed it, instead of the excellent back and forth over players and tactics, the conversation was turned into a name calling contest. I just said EF it, no winners here. But now there are both Pack fans and Giants fans that are just waiting for the chance to flame the other group. The Lions fan is gone, probably laughing about how he ruined it for others.

Well I guess this is the appropriate place to post this

I visited Pats Pulpit November 27 to see if someone could link me to the game so my wife could watch it.

At the time I did not know of the SBN policy against mentioning online feeds, which Ed could tell you I have helped uphold here since finding out about it.

I just found out a few days ago, upon returning to Pats Pulpit, that I was banned. What follows is not every comment, because it was a game thread and there’s a lot of unrelated stuff. But here’s the gist of it.

I stand by calling someone an idiot if they suggest I be banned for asking if anyone has a link to watch online.
