This is a tale of the poor referee. We are told how hard their jobs are. How they only work on weekends, and have to have real jobs too. So they just can't get the call right every time.

Well, according to those website (CNN being pretty reliable) NFL referees are paid pretty good for this job. 25k to 70K or possibly higher is not chump change. Depending on where you live, you can have a comfortable life on 50k. The lowest range actually turns out to be over 1,000 dollars per game which I think is pretty good compensation for a days work.
So the idea of them being just these poor little part time workers is bunk and they should be able to turn out a better days work.
To put things into perspective, I am a Navy Reservist. I have to work 1 weekend a month for which I am paid just under 400 dollars for the 2 days work I put in. I cannot use the "I am only a part time worker" excuse and do a bad job or I can get in trouble. What about these lousy refs?
