The NFL's Original Statement Regarding Sunday's Giants/Packers Game (Prior to Revision)
"We deeply regret the current circumstances. The officiating crew did everything within their power to send the Packers to the NFC championship game. Despite the obvious ratings grab New York still having a shot at the Super Bowl provides, we apologize for the inconvenience. Roger Goodell is currently evaluating the possibility of suspending Eli Manning for flagrant hail mary touch down passes, as well as the tight spirals he fits into places which may be considered "heinous" for a quarterback to throw to. In cases of excessive taunting (as this one) the league will take the appropriate measures to discourage such behavior going forward.
Hakeem Nicks may also be subject to fines and/or suspension for the embarrassment of safety Charlie Peprah, as well as the entire Green Bay secondary. The NFL does not condone the manhandling of an entire unit by a single player."
Don't look now, but rumor has it that Vince McMahon will be Sunday's special referee for the NFC championship game.

and eli deserves another fine
for running downfield on a non passing play in such a manner as if he intended to block a defender

So if Hakeem is subject to fines/suspension, I wonder what Plax was subject to 4 years ago when he destroyed Al Harris.

Don't forget!
The NFL was not firmly on Green Bay’s side until this season. Four years ago, Brett Favre was the starting quarterback, and while from a ratings standpoint, it looks to be a matchup for the ages, it also was seen as more threatening to the perfect season of New England. Thus, it would make more sense for them to matchup against New York.
At the start of the 2007 season, the best friend’s mother of Roger Goodell’s third cousin had been “gifted” a large sum of money, in which he invested in futures on the Pats winning the Super Bowl.
At the end of the 2007 season, this became apparent as officiating gaffes began to pile up in the Patriots’ favor. However, it would be a 10-6 team from the little town of East Rutherford that would shock the world, and Goodell’s pockets.
Millions were lost not only in futures, but also in merchandise (oh, the “19-0” merchandise that the NFL would have loved to sell).
Goodell was denied by a Manning once. He is hell bent on making sure that it won’t happen again.
