Giants beat the NFL awful officiating

I mean really how bad has the officiating been all year for all teams.

As far as I'm concern we won that other game against GB in the reg season.

You're not allowed to bitch and complain about calls when you lose but come on, a 3 point difference when there were 3 critical calls all going in GB favor, whatever.

Tonight was even worse with that fumble call and then that beautiful clean hit my Osi called for 15 yard penalty - WTF!

We won - The better team won - against a really good team with lots of help from the officials!

In all seriousness about the NFL officiating, does anyone know if the officials review their body of work to see how good or bad were there calls - otherwise how can they can better - is there no accountability?
Nope, there's no accountability in the NFL

Goodell's trying to change that...

Lost in the playoffs of the BBV fantasy league and ended 3rd overall! Team Figging lived on with its 9-5 regular season record. Beat the (Insert Giants Opponent Here) were just too good to beat.

I’m pretty sure there is reviewing and rating of officiating that determines who works playoff games, but clearly the system doesn’t work well. For my money, NFL officials are the most susceptible to brain farts. I am not talking about missed or phantom calls (although that roughing the passer was a travesty), but rather indecisiveness and poor communication. That Jennings fumble was a good example.

Another example of poor communication was a week (or two) ago, against Atlanta (or Dallas) when a holding was called against the offense, so the ball was marked off ten yards and set. Then the head ref got back on the mic to say it was defensive holding and the ball is moved forward 15 yards. Defensive holding may well have been the right call, and the whole incident might have wasted only 45 seconds, but it still frustrates me that professional referees can fuck that up.

Ware's spot was mind boggling. I couldn't believe the ump made that spot.

Osi’s hit? well maybe at that angle he made a mistake (not that im making lite of the f*ck up)

the fumble? maybe with 60 seconds in the both he didnt get up to the definitive replay( more BS but anyway)

that spot

He had to be at least a half a yard off, and the worse part is the ref had clear unblocked view of the play from what I could tell. That guy should never do another playoff game.

Pats fan here,

and even I felt bad for you guys. Disgusting officiating is easier to digest when it’s going both ways, but that was all going against the Giants. Two bad calls got the Packers 14 of their points.

It is what it is

The second reviewed fumble

where clearly the Packer player lost control before he hit the ground convinced me that the Vegas bookies got to the refs. How else can you explain that call?

by derekcrane on Jan 15, 2012 9:14 PM EST reply actions

No Roughing the Passer calls either

At least on the hits Eli took. There were at least 2 times which Eli got hit well after throwing the ball and NOTHING. Yet the Wind Force of Osi cleanly hitting Rodgers results in a hit to the helmet?

Seriously, the NFL needs to do something here. B.S. calls in the Saints/Lions, Giants/Falcons, and now Giants/Packers and nothing has been done to correct this?

Damn

when they feel it was bad (with the hatred they have for the G-Men), you know it was a brutally bad call.

and whats with the secrecy behind the curtain

I believe the entire stadium should be able to see what hes looking at and watch how he’s scrutinizing the video
they should show his screen on the stadiums screens…
this will
a) maybe make them feel more accountable at what decision they make
OR
b) help us understand WTF they are looking at

I seriously think that some of these refs need to be inspected, and inspected closely.

Too many of these calls stink of B.S, and someone needs to be evaluating these guys. I know I know, can’t blame the refs, that saying is usually true, but lately I feel like there is a whole lot of blame to be passed on to these guys. And we didn’t even lose.

Reviews

I can understand that some calls are subjective, and happen in a flash. But I thought the idea of the booth review was to get right exactly those types of calls. Even though it was obvious to everyone that Jennings had fumbled, maybe the ref had a bad angle, and couldn’t see it clearly. Ok; maybe I’ll buy that. But the replay clearly showed the ball coming out well before any part of his leg made contact with the ground. What do we do when the fail-safe fails? How do we explain an official looking at the same replay video as everyone else (including both Giant-hating announcers, as well as the head of NFL officiating), and not seeing what we all see??? That is incomprehensible to me.

This was the worst officiated game since...

Lakers v. Kings… I think we all remember that one.

Also correct me if I am wrong but does the NFL have a union for the officials? I thought they were all lawyers and firefighters during the week. (seriously)

Will lightning really strike twice?

SUBJECT: GAME BALL??? OUR DEFENSE BACKS......WITHOUT DOUBT!!!

THE FRONT FOUR PASS RUSH WAS JUST OKAY………BUT THE COVERAGE OF OUR DEFENSE BACKS……………….OUTSTANDING.

AS FOR OFFICIATING? I HOPE AND PRAY THAT F-ING CALL OF OUR TACKLE ELIGIBLE PLAY WHEN HE GOT PULLED DOWN JUST BEFORE THE BALL GOT TO HIM STILL PISSES ME OFF IN SAN FRANCISCO. THAT NO CALL REVIEW, CHANGED A RULE IN THE LAST TWO MINUTES REVIEW OF A CALLS FROM THE PRESS BOX. DO YOU ALL REMEMBER THAT? (THE LAST PLAY OF THE GAME?)
THE MARIUCCA SAID ABOUT THE CALL LATER IN AN INTERVIEW……..“BUMMER.”

Excellent Post

This has been driving me crazy all season. I am not a conspiracy theorist who thinks the league wants a certain match-up in the Super Bowl. But if you are you have enough evidence from last night to build your case. That was the worst officiated game I’ve seen at any game at any level, including little league and professional wrestling. The absolute best thing you can say about Bill Leavy is that he is completely incompetent. If I had a day like that at my job I wouldn’t wait for them to fire me. I would just resign out of embarassment. Whatever the NFL says about the referees going through some sort of review process more needs to be done. Let these referees have to face the press after the game just like players and coaches. Fire these incompetent officials. Bill Leavy should be fired based on his performance yesterday. Ron Winters has the reputation for being the worst ref in the game for the past 10 years and they trot him back out every season. Mike Peirara basically rips Jeff Tripplette apart on national TV a couple weeks ago. But I’m sure we’ll see him again this post season. These guys are too comfortable. Make them accountable!!!!! Plenty of quality people want to be NFL officials but they trot these retards out every year. WHY?
