Giants 37, Packers 20: Giants Headed To NFC Title Game

Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers looks on in the third quarter against the New York Giants during their NFC Divisional playoff game at Lambeau Field on January 15, 2012 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. (Photo by Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images)

The New York Giants are headed to the NFC Championship Game after beating the Green Bay Packers, 37-20. Yep, I picked the Green Bay Packers to win. And yes, I am happy to be wrong.

Pick on me all you want while you wait for Sean's recap.

This is outstanding.

I mean I didn’t see the winner of the NFC East doing diddly. Instead you’re off to an NFC Title game. Be proud. Your defense got hot at the right time. Going to be a big battle next week.

Don’t expect 30’s though. SF has a way better defense than GB. 24-21 Giants.

Maybe teams need to rethink that resting all your starters thing in week 17

Not saying that they would have won if they had played out the string, but there’s something to be said about continuity. Notice that all the other bye teams had something to play for in week 17 and they’re still playing.

Question is...

will JR really give it to him? Can the Giants afford 3 Pro-Bowl DEs? And would Osi stay even if they did offer him more money? I don’t think he likes JR very much and it seemed like he already decided he wants to leave. I definitely want him here. D Line is not as dominant without him.

Tix to SF!

Two Questions:

1. is there anyone in the BBV community who has season tix and a right to go but cannot go? I’m looking to take my 6 year old Eli fan.

2. Any advice about how to get tix for this game? Where to try to buy that won’t wind up with me buying fraudulent tix?

Amazing, Amazing, Amazing!

Stubhub is reputable. I used them for SB42.

Probably get in the building for $500 per. A grand for good seats. If you want to do a travel package, Big Blue Travel will have a decent deal, but the implied cost of the ticket will probably be in that area too.

The bigger story IS how much GB sucked

We played well enough to win no matter what GB team showed up, but turnovers + a lousy defensive gameplan, a lot of teams would have beaten them today.

SF leads 4-3. Time to even it up!

by Dr. Copp on Jan 15, 2012 8:39 PM EST up reply actions

Missed 1981

I was thinking of the ones I’ve seen.

Good. Then we can even the score.

And have two teams played as often as the Giants and the Niners in the post-season, at least in the Super Bowl era? That sounds like a trivia challenge.

If it's not the most, it can't be much higher

In all that time I have never whined about a single call that went against the Giants. In fact, since early adolescence I’ve never done so.
However, so many bad calls going against the Giants in these last four crucial games have me asking what the hell is going on.
I’ve been a Giants fan since 1938 and have never seen the like.

It was sooo obvious how terible the officiating was. .. the replay one was a joke joke! . . . thats why you have replay . . .the NFL should be ashamed of themselves. With all of the rules turning in favor of O and the officaiting favoring superstars and big teams it’s turning into the NBA.

Oh that 2007 Packers game

I was there for the home game, and I remember leaving that game thinking the Giants would be lucky to win four games. And that was the same weekend I was in NY to watch the Mets lose to the Phillies as they began their collapse.

Once again, the Giants restore my sports sanity.

Funny how I think both Niner and Giants fans want their team to be underdogs

Seems like our teams play better with a chip on their shoulder.

From PFT: Weather could be a factor in San Francisco on Sunday

“According to the folks at Weather.com, a special weather statement already has been issued for San Francisco, with heavy rain and high winds in the forecast for the second half of the coming week.”

Could be a big factor

Especially since the 49ers are pretty damn solid against the run and we struggle mightily at times.

I like Eli's chances to make plays over Smith in bad weather

Hope to see a win from my leather recliner.

This is totally conjecture, but...

You take those awful calls from the refs away… And it looks like we have back to back games without allowing touchdowns. BOOM!

The NFL has never had the kind of scandals sports like

baseball, basketball and boxing have had. No cheating. Heavy suspensions for gambling (Paul Hornung), banishnent for neglecting to report a bribe (one of my all-time favorite Giants, Frankie Filchock.) That kind of thing is it. But, I reiterate—what the hell is going on with these terrible calls?

At least the two most balanced teams in the NFL will be playing in the Championship game for a change up.
