Transcripts, Transcripts And More Transcripts
As if Mike didn't give you enough to read this morning (and I know he did) we have much, much more for you this morning. Several coaches and players were available to the media on Thursday, and we have all the transcripts.
Highlights of those are below.
Giants coach Tom Coughlin was asked to expand on what he meant by 'road warrior mentality.' [Full Transcript]
"Mental toughness is what I think it is. It is a perfectly disciplined will that refuses to give in, that is persistent and will battle through the good and the bad, the physical side of the game but also the mental side of the game, the resiliency and just the ability to see things through until the end and believing that you are going to win."
Defensive coordinator Perry Fewell on the improved communication and play of the defense.
"We know what we want to do and how we want to do it. That's been one of the keys. ... It was just a combination of, some of our young players started to grow up. We did have a number of young players on the field at the same time. Chase Blackburn has been a tremendous welcome coming back to our squad and being able to communicate with our guys and get on the same page with our guys. I think it's just the work throughout the whole season, guys are listening to each other, talking to each other, and never stop communicating with each other, and believing in each other."
Offensive lineman David Diehl [Full Transcript]
"Obviously there is a lot to lose. Either you win and you continue playing or you lose and you go home. Obviously they are a very good football team, 15-1 is an unbelievable record and they are a very good football team and I think we had an ‘us against the world' mentality throughout the ups and downs of this season when people told us that we couldn't do this, we couldn't win the division. I think that our team really rallied together and I think that we became a stronger team because of it because it took all of us to look each other in the eye and have that accountability, that we believe in one another and in order for us to do it we have to go out there and play that way and I think that's the way we have been winning games."
Running back Brandon Jacobs [Full Transcript]
"I am very confident, I feel good about our opportunity. Wake up every morning feeling so good about this game. They are a good football team, you can't take anything away from them. They are 15-1 and to go 15-1 in a league like this is special because guys are coming for you every week. I just like our opportunity that we have and we've got to go out and take advantage of it. They are going to go out and lay it down for us and we've got to take it."
Defensive end Justin Tuck on whether he thought the Giants would miss the playoffs. [Full Transcript]
"You never allow yourself to think that, regardless of how bad things are at the moment. I've seen it too many times, where it seems like a team that's been counted out finds a way to right the ship. It happened to us in '07. It happened to Green Bay last year. There's so much parity in this league that once a team figures it out and gets hot, it's hard to stop. Hopefully that's where we're at right now. We've been here before. We know how this feeling feels. I think we're poised to get on a run, but it's going to be a tough ride."

Fewell says they're finally communicating well
I read yesterday where a member of the defense said much the same thing.
A lot of BBVers are convinced that Fewell simplified at Coughlin’s insistence. Guess we’ll know what really happened down the road, but getting things to click can be a tricky, and some never figure it out. The personnel’s healthy, everybody’s well-versed in their assignments, a little success breeds confidence, etc.
Give TC and PF AND the entire defense credit. With the numbers they were allowing in the mid to late season, the team could find 100 reasons to pull a NYJ-style mutiny and charter ten buses to have ample room to throw everyone under.
This whole organization is tough, single-minded, they fought through the adversity and made it to the big stage, ready to play big time football. They like where they’re at now, we like it, the media likes it – the only ones who don’t are the GB Packers!

Excellent comment...
You can add Rex Ryan and the Jets to the list of people that don’t like it..

Between the Injuries, the Osi preseason drama, a year of Coughlin-on-the-hot-seat, the impending doom of another 2nd half collapse, no running game until Santa brought one at Christmas, and the mad-scientist PF's undecipherable schemes
you could say this team has faced more adversity than any other club in the league. And they’re still standing!

no ya got it wrong....
The reason we are not 17-0 right now…
is all JR's fault
At least that is what I read when I went to nj.com in the comment section but with out the _
Regardless of what happens, No playoffs, playoffs, no superblow, superblow.... The 2011/2012 is one of my favorite Giants Teams of all time.
Cited this awhile back
Only 2 teams in the last decade have averaged more starters out due to injury per game than the this year’s Giants – both had terrible, losing campaigns.
Reese had the backups – the team was MORE THAN COMPETITIVE this year.
We should start thinking about JR the way we should also be thinking about TC – we’ll be sorry when they’re gone!

The Giants are one of the deepest teams in league
But the injuries on defense held the teams ability to gel up. Now we are healthy and rolling. #Fearthelowrrcaseny

So I am going on a limb here
and saying Chase has really been the most underrated player on our defense. It seems everytime someone brings up the complete 180 this defense has taken, Chase always gets mentioned someway, shape or form..

I'm not sure Chase is underrated..but he's been the biggest shot in the arm, for sure..

Big piece of the resurgence...he's been very active
seems more physical this go round than before. He’s hungry and has no plans of being released anytime soon.

Good Call
Since they brought him back I’ve been saying “The Chase is ON!”

Canty and Linval have been big pieces too
They have been dominant at the LOS ever since the Jets game.
Go Giants!
Arguing on the internet is like running in the Special Olympics. Even if you win, you're still retarded.
Chase has really impacted..
Special Team play as well. I want a blocked punt Sunday, damn it. Look for Kiwi straight up the gut.
I really don't care about a blocked punt...
I just want to see them have to punt..ALOT.

Rodney Hampton
The giants need to let dave brown throw the ball more and feed the ball to rodney hampton in the 4th quarter.then let the defence take over and let carl banks and company win the game!
