Giants 21, Cowboys 0: Second Half Open Thread

You couldn't have asked for a much better first half, New York Giants fans. A 21-0 lead with pretty much every fortunate bounce going the Giants' way. A Victor Cruz salsa dance. NBC shots of Jerry Jones looking stunned. So far, so good.

Thing is, since Day 1 of training camp Giants coach Tom Coughlin has talked about finishing. Now we see if the Giants can finish what they have started here, thus finishing the Cowboys season and getting ready to host the Atlanta Falcons in a wild-card weekend playoff game.

It's been a great beginning. Giants fans know their team has been here before, though. It means nothing if the Giants don't finish it.

Let's see what happens.

But the play that turned into the 74-yard TD by Cruz was a brilliant call. And not just because it worked – it’s damn hard to defend a quick out against a guy like Cruz, and rolling Manning in that direction to prevent any pressure was perfect.

Your years not done.
You deserved the win.
We played in this too late.
Maybe short on a 4th down was the end.
Although I’d favor that horrid coverage on 3rd and long to Cruz.

Your QB is legit. Our QB just needs the rest of the team to get better.
Proud of my team for not quitting. And it was there, Just a little out of reach.

Even when Dallas had success it was nothing deep . .. Romo’s hand had some impact in this game and it feed into what the Giants wanted to do on D.

always posative . . . this team was fun this year and nice to see them put 4 quarters together vs Dallas . . . .

Eli carried them . .. and the emergance of Cruz and JPP were HUGE!

I also like JWill, he’s gonna be a player.

Eli played big today, he showed up as well as the outside playmakers as the pass rushers . . ..

So confused

Everybody told me the Eagles were going to just roll to a division title, and yet here are the Giants winning the NFC East. How could those “experts” all be so wrong? My world is shattered.

Wow

Big win, another big game for Eli. I dont think.ive ever seen a qb win more games against better talent than eli. Crazy. Rivers has the best team almost every week and wins nothing.

by Giant Ken on Jan 1, 2012 11:44 PM EST via mobile reply actions

Congratulations BBV.

So glad I didn’t buy tickets to this game. Bleh. The Cowboys teased me. Yet again. Not Romo’s fault. Mostly due to horrible play calling and clock management. Have fun with the Falcons and then Packers, then possibly the Saints.

Thanks classy move

Can’t kill Romo his D never game him a shot

I also think his hand did affect his deep throwing a bit . . . He showed tougnees all year he seems sanke bitten a bit, I actually feel for him.

I gues our mediorce team is better than yours this year . . .. Hope to batteling you guys for the division again next year.

by Landeta on Jan 1, 2012 11:46 PM EST up reply actions

Agreed

That being said, once again Eli gets it down head to head against Romo.

A Romo led Dallas team has not beaten an Eli led Giants team since 2008.

And Eli stands alone in history in a very impressive category. TD’s thrown in the fourth quarter.

Thank you Ernie Accorsi.

Read EA's book

He discusses the entire proccess from scouting to draft day. He loved Eli a lot more than both RIvers and Ben . . . his initial scouting report of Eli is shockingly right on . . . a lot of it has to do with how competative his Ole Miss teams were with crappy talent, how Eli carried a team in the brutally tough SEC, very telling especailly after what I saw this year.

Right on

That play is Eli . . . thats what he is . . . .
He is not pinpoint accurate ala Rogers or Bress. . . he does not have the command for 4 quarters the way his brother or Brady do BUT he can make big plays in the clutch. . .

Risk Reward with Eli he might piss some plays away but he makes truley great ones in the clutch thats why he has a SB MVP award, guys that don’t take those risks don’t make those sorts of plays. . . ala McNabb
