Here we go with our first mostly meaningless rant of the 2011 NFL season about mostly meaningless NFL Power Rankings. Our good friends at the mothership, SBNation.com, have come out with their first set of rankings as Week 1 nears kickoff.
Where do the New York Giants sit, according to SB Nation's Joel Thorman? Well, Thorman has the Giants 12th. Which is fine based on last season and the preseason -- until you look up and see the Dallas Cowboys 10th.
Why is it always this way? Why do analysts, fans, experts, know nothings who only hear that the Cowboys are called 'America's Team?' Now that I think about it, aren't all those people one and the same, anyway?
I just don't get it. In the end, the Cowboys might be better than the Giants this season. I don't think so, I hope not, but it might happen. You never know how things will play out.
Personally, I just get tired of the constant praise and high expectations placed on a team that hasn't earned either. Joel, you should be ashamed of yourself for falling into the 'praise the Cowboys' trap. Make 'em earn it first.
