Every Giants fan knows beating Philly in week 3 was important. But exactly how important?
For starters , the Eagles were not just beaten, they also lost their starting QB for atleast a few games.
Philly starts at 1-2 and with Vick out this could get ugly quick.
The NFC east is a 4 horse race(unlike in the past where you knew Redskins were never in contention.
In addition to this , early returns suggest NFC North and NFC south will have atleast 3 teams in contetion for a playoff spot( I am discounting Carolina Panthers and the Vikings)..
Whoever does not win the NFC east will have to contend with 6 other teams for 2 Wild Card spots.
I feel far more comfortable with our chances of winning the division if the Eagles start out 1-4 or something similar.
Looking at our schedule, we could be 6-1 up before our trip to Foxboro. The schedule turns brutal after that. But I wont discount the Giants using the confidence the undoubtedly gained today to actually win some of the tough games we are not favored in.
