"I've handled DeSean Jackson one on one before, don't see why I wouldn't be able to do it again."

Antrel Rolle today on WFAN. Does anyone else wish the Giants would put a gag order on this guy?

That's what I was going to say

My first thought when I read the quote was “Just shut up Rolle!”

Benigno asked

knowing full well he would get a rise out of Antrel, something along the lines of, " Do you think you can cover DeSean Jackson one on one if asked to do so ?" The conversation basically was about all the different places Antrel is asked to line up. He said he would play anywhere on the field, even " Nose Guard", if they asked him too They also spoke about him playing QB in high school.

this.

I know Rolle can put his foot in his mouth, but this ain’t one of those moments. He is excuding confidence in his own ability, as oppose to saying something completely irrational. Although some people here may believe that what he just said was irrational. LOL. Anyways, good to know he has confidence. Let’s not crucify our own players over every little tit for tat.

If you’ve played football, you should understand the intensity and competitiveness of the sport. All preseason and the first two weeks of the season the Giants have been hearing about the “Dream Team”. I’m glad Antrel said something, I just hope he will back it up.

well Cweb played D Jax extremely well last year in both games

oh sorry….he gave up about 50 yards in each game to him…..the horror, I know.

Now on the other side of the field Maclin was really having his way with TT

I think it’s time to make the switch, put Cweb on Maclin and put Ross on DJack and tell Rolle to worry about Avant.

really won’t matter much though b/c Fewell will have this Corners WAY off the line….so I assume not much will change next week in terms of our CBs giving up short passes…and being awful.

if anyone on this team can run w/ Djack it ain’t cweb or rolle…it’s Ross.

i mean, sure you can keep Cweb on Djack.

just look for Maclin to go for about 10 and 150 vs. Ross/Coe/Rolle

Examples of acceptable responses for Rolle

I don’t what was the question but it surely was something like “Can you handle DeSean Jackson one-on-one?”

Responses that would have been appropriate for the overconfident Rolle:
-Look DeSean is a WR with tremendous speed but I think I’m to the challenge
-If you are not phisycally limited it’s just a matter of execution you know. Jackson is a WR and I’m a DB and if I do my job he won’t get the ball.
-We’ll see on the field next sunday but I’m confident about my skillset

I know that’s not Rolle’s style but sometimes I wish it were. Eli doesn’t show enough confidence and gets criticized when he does but Rolle shows too much confidence and it’s legitimate to criticize the kind of answer he gave.

Both do things in a similar fashion, but Maclin is more complete, stronger catching the ball when covered and slightly less speed.

Yeah, Rolle wishes he could cover Jackson. In his dreams. But he better figure out how to stay in position to tackle him after a catch, that’s the main problem.

by hopeforthefuture3 on Sep 20, 2011 2:52 PM EDT reply actions

Seems like he is playing, but with concussion you never know if a person will have a setback.

by Anders Jensen on Sep 20, 2011 2:55 PM EDT up reply actions

Are we the fucking head doctors? Huh? Does it look like we diagnose concussions and set a time table for return?

I’m joking of coarse…

We don’t know, he was really close to the line of not having a concussion, so it’s entirely possible that he could play this week, the big thing is that they said he was a little off right after the game but on the plane he was becoming noticeably more normal… He had his MRI yesterday and I think his IMPACT testing starts today. If his IMPACT testing checks out then he’ll likely be seeing an outside doctor Wednesday..

It all depends on how he responds though so we’ll see..

Yes, Wild_Eagle's infamous reputation did help him get this award. But he shows that he walks the talk that he serves...with his keyboard. Although he may be crude and unnecessary, all great defenders draws the yellow flag from time to time.

I'm saying he plays

but honestly I feel okay with Kafka or Young if needed, at least for one week

I agree with this.

I’m leaning towards yes but if he doesn’t it looks like you’ll still see a Mike at QB as in Mike Kafka

I disagree Ed,

I love that Rolle speaks his mind and gives himself and the team confidence boosts. This team needs to believe in itself!

Why do they have to add fuel to the fire. Let it be feed off Mccoy’s comments in the off season. The eagles are scary. Jackson and Maclin are going to run wild. Hope we can blitz enough to through off who ever is in at QB.

On another note, Im glad people are starting to realize how good Maclin is

it seems the NFC Beast is the only ones who get it

I don't see an issue with what Rolle said, although I have never seen him shut down Desean or even cover him

1 on 1 before.. But hey, whatever he says.

The thing is that Desean without a doubt will hear of this, he will see what Rolle said and he’ll likely let his play do the talking just like with Landry decided to mess with him.

I’m also glad to see Maclin finally getting some respect, he’s so underrated, it seems like only divisional rivals know about him.

Here's the reality. Rolle doesn't matter. Neither does Ross.

This game comes down to if Osi play. Because if he does, then it’s fifty/fifty whether your quarterback, whoever he may be on Sunday, gets his head ripped off by Tuck, Osi, or JPP. That’s the bottom line. Fifty/fifty. That’s what has you eeegs fans whistling in the dark. And you know it. One hit. Goodbye season. Especially with your sieve O line.

I'm not really worried about your DE's,

Herremans has been playing well, Peters is looking better than ever… Unless you have Tuck at DT I’m not to worried because the other two are blockable.

And yes I realize that it’s 50/50 (in your eyes) whether our QB makes it through the game, but I’d also argue that Eli is going to have some trouble with our DL coming after him especially against your struggling OL.

I like Rolle

And this doesn’t bother me at all. If he wants to step up and cover Jackson, go for it. But if he gets beat, he better be the first to admit it, too.
