The New York Giants have announced five roster moves they had to make by 4 p.m. ET on Friday to get their roster down to 80 players. Linebacker Clint Sintim was placed on injured reserve, and four players were waived. They are guard Brant Clouser, wide receiver Todd Watkins, cornerback Darnell Burks and defensive tackle Ibrahim Abdulai.
NFL teams were supposed to cut down 80-man rosters on Tuesday, but the Giants and New York Jets were given five-player exemptions due to Hurricane Irene, which forced them to play two games within 72 hours.
Sintim, a third-year pro, tore the anterior cruciate ligament and patellar tendon in his right knee in Thursday's 18-17 preseason-ending victory over the Patriots in New England.
All NFL teams have to get down to the 53-man roster limit by 6 p.m. ET on Saturday.
The Giants face interesting decisions at punter, backup quarterback, third running back, wide receiver, linebacker and cornerback.
