Hello to all my faithful NY Giants fans out there. To those of you who know me, you know that I am a die-hard, Blue Blooded, Giants' fan who only wants to see my beloved team play like they are winners. A few of you may call me a troll, or say that I don't know anything about football, or all the yadda yadda, riff raff bullcrap that I hear when I comment on things, but I will tell you one thing. I am a realist to the core. New Jersey born and bred, I am not one to sugarcoat bullcrap and tell someone that it's just a brown lemon meringue pie. I call it exactly how I see it, and you can either love it or leave it alone. (Which some of you haters will want to leave it alone, but you all know I speak truthfully.)
Now, back to the topic of this here Fanpost. We all know that the Giants' "07 season was nothing short of miraculous, capping off that up and down season with an historic win over the then undefeated New England Patriots. Call it fate, or luck, or destiny, but it was something that will always be remembered as one of the greatest Super Bowl wins in NFL history, hands down. I believe in my heart that it was truly meant for Micheal Strahan to finally get a ring for all the blood, sweat, and tears, that he shed during his long illustrious career as a NY Giant. Believe it or not, Strahan was the glue that kept that team together that year as the strong, vocal, and inspirational presence in that locker room. Now that he is retired, the Giants lack that one player who can spark up that fire inside of them to go out there and play their hearts out. Thus, you have the uninspired, unmotivated, unproductive football that the New York Giants have been accustomed to playing post-"07 Super Bowl win.
Here it is, a whole 4 years after our glorious Super Bowl win and there are still some Giants' fans (undoubtedly die hard fans like myself) who still invoke the spirit of the "07 Super Bowl as an reason to excuse all of the sub-par performances that our beloved team, under Head Coach Tom Coughlin, (a.k.a. Grumpy Ol' Mr. Burns) his coaching staff, and GM Jerry Reese and his keen eye for selecting the most injury-prone players of the draft each and every year, has put forth. That's why I have the upmost respect for Bill Parcels... he wasn't afraid to cut to the chase and chew any one of his players out, including a franchise QB if he continuously hurt his team. This team, under TC has been the poster-boy for one single word... INCONSISTENT. As much as I would like to be the voice of blind optimism, this is something that is totally against my nature. I would like to profess to everyone up here on BBV the exact same thing that I proclaimed to my fellow co-workers, that the New York Giants will win this year's Super Bowl, but deep inside I know that even I don't believe in that lie. All I get in return for saying that to people is the same old laughter and ridicule that we all get from our team's rivals like the Cowboys or Eagles' fans after watching our team disgrace themselves along with all of us as their fans with the horrible play that they continue to display out there on the football field.
So, in a nutshell, I would just like to provide this service announcement for all the delusional Eli Manning devotees, the passionate Tom Coughlin defenders, and all the emphatic Jerry Reese crusaders, remember one thing... the New York Giants "07 Super Bowl win is a thing of the past, just move on from it. Like Janet Jackson said, "What have you done for me lately?" and when it comes to this New York Giants team, we all know that what has been done lately is not good at all.
