Can somebody please make Antrel Rolle shut up?
After the firestorm created by his offseason comments calling New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin "too uptight," Rolle seemed to have realized that he was out of line and that he needed to do less talking with his mouth and more with his play.
Well, maybe not.
"We as a team and as an organization, we know that the Washington Redskins is not a better than us. We know that hands down. If we played them 100 times, they might win five.
"And they won that day. And it never leaves a good taste in your mouth when you lose to an opponent that you know you’re better than. And we understood where things went wrong. I don’t think we played a good game at all as a team. I don’t think that we played good on special teams, on defense or on offense."
Rolle also said that he was "not at all" impressed by Washington quarterback Rex Grossman, and that the Giants "will prove that" the next time they meet the Redskins.
For crying out loud, Antrel! This nonsense doesn't help anybody -- all this does is give the Redskins bulletin board material and make it look like the Giants have a loose cannon in their locker room who either doesn't get Coughlin's 'talk is cheap, play the game' mantra or -- worse yet -- doesn't care.
What would help is looking in the mirror and realizing that talking isn't going to help anything. Not committing foolish penalties and doing a better job in pass coverage would.
