Giants 18, Patriots 17: Youth Is Served

Stay connected for news and updates

I have no idea how this season will work out. The New York Giants could be extremely good and wind up making a deep playoff run. They could go 6-10 and have the fan base screaming for everyone's head.

One thing I do know after watching Thursday night's 18-17 preseason-ending victory over the New England Patriots. There were an awful lot of talented, exciting young players wearing Giants uniforms.

Jacquian Williams, Da'Rel Scott, Spencer Paysinger, Andre Brown ... even the shaky rookie punt returner Jerrel Jernigan and several other young players had highlights throughout the night.

One other thing. The Giants have to cut five players Friday and get from 80 to 53 on Saturday. Those cuts are going to be brutal, and there are going to be some good players turned loose -- players who will quickly get snapped up and land on other teams.

That, by the way, is a sign of a talented team that should be good.

NOTES: Reports from a variety of Twitter sources are that linebacker Clint Sintim suffered a ruptured patella tendon in his right knee and will be out for the season. A really unfortunate break for a much-maligned player who seemed to finally be turning a corner.
