The question, of course, is does this mean anything in relation to the Osi Umenyiora saga?

Tollefson

Unsaid here is the fact that w/Tollefson back in the fold Kiwanuka can play linebacker full-time provided JPP and Tuck are healthy. He can go to DT when they go with extra pass-rushers.

by Ed Valentine on Aug 5, 2011 5:09 PM EDT up reply actions

You can think that

But, apparently Perry Fewell thinks differently. I think that is probably what really matters. Kiwi is playing LB in the base and lining up with the d-line when they go three DEs for pass rush. A lot like what he did last year before he got hurt.

by Ed Valentine on Aug 5, 2011 10:54 PM EDT up reply actions

Where does that leave Sintim

in the base defense?

Prove we are wrong, Tom "Medicine Man" Quinn, NOT!

by Great Gatsby on Aug 6, 2011 12:12 AM EDT up reply actions

I don't know but I don't like it

Kiwi is a DE who converted to LB. Sintim has always been a LB. Give him a chance to grow into his role.

It's about damn time. Why weren't they given opportunities before? Huh?!?!

Get the best 11 men on the field

Sintim can be one of them – he has to SHOW SOMETHING!

Why is Tom Quinn still here?

How funny would it be if...

they gave Tolly the contract that Osi has been demanding!!

never gonna happen though

u should find something else to do! You like the GM,you have your head up your ass!!!!!!!!! we have not singed a linebacker in years think about it, he has on Herry Carson JERSEY, HE is not a pimple on his ass, like I said find something elese to do like go play in the road out side of the stadium, may be u could talk about that. your inputs suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! go back were was the last linebacker we had, get rid of the GM and find someone knows talent.. DON`T KNOW ABOUT ANYONE ELSE IT IS GETTING SICKING..

Welcome back, Tolly!

But no, this is a depth/ST move, I’d hardly call this Osi-insurance.

by TNYFBG on Aug 5, 2011 5:09 PM EDT reply actions

Exactly

Well stated. He also has been around a while and knows the system, not like bringing in fresh blood that takes time to learn

by GiantRB27 on Aug 5, 2011 6:57 PM EDT up reply actions

I always liked him. Good sub when you need it

Not Osi at all but stalwart.

All the Giants should play like Mark Bavaro.
Tom Quinn Must Go!
On second thought, let's not blame players or coaches, they are not responsible. The unsupportive fans are to blame.

wooo

great backup player and a fun guy. happy to see him back

by NJsandman on Aug 5, 2011 5:51 PM EDT reply actions

And the added bonus is Tolly's mother can give the half time pep talks...

And “chat” with any players who are sluffing off or padding injury in order to avoid the field.

by Cranky50 on Aug 5, 2011 6:36 PM EDT reply actions

I'd think it means that the Giants at least have depth at DE

Tolly is OK, a good backup nothing more. But he doesn’t complain and does his job. It might just mean that there’s no chance Osi plays with the Giants ever again.

I'm torn on this guy

Part of me wouldn’t be surprised if he was cut before the season, and part of me wouldn’t be surprised if he is a gamer, and takes full advantage of his snaps in Osi’s absence.

Of course, I am not a scout, hence my vague and insipid analysis.

He's solid

as a rotational guy, to give D-Line a rest, nothing more…And doesn’t give people a headache!

maybe we should trade him for Haynesworth

Ed

Random thought but could we do an open thread during practices? For general discussion and updates from the practice field….. Just a thought

Good for Tolly

I’m a huge fan of Tolly. He always seems to make the best of what playing time he gets.

by GMen56-11 on Aug 5, 2011 8:09 PM EDT reply actions

Glad for tolly

and what the hell made Osi think he was worth more money if he knew he might need surgery? Bet there are a few teams that are glad they didn’t give a number 1 pick for him.

by TheGifford on Aug 5, 2011 8:26 PM EDT reply actions

Osi?

Has there been a Doctor(team or otherwise) to publicly say that Osi has damage to the knee or has it just been Osi and his agent?

Here's what I think

Since he’s not getting a new deal (get over it Osi), send him to Carl Pavano Memorial MIRI Tube.
When they get the results back, and they will most likely be clean, then lets say he doesn’t practice. The team can then fine him 30K a day, I would think he would start practicing then?

I like the move...

especially when you heard about the crap his mom gave him when he got hurt last year. It was last season, right?

Yup, the lady doesn't like to travel to get to Giant games to see Tolly...

ride the pine! If he didn’t play the same position as her son, I’d like to see her “chat” with Osi! Anyway, glad to see Tolly back, as he’s solid depth, knows the system, doesn’t cause problems and does his job when called upon.

by Cranky50 on Aug 5, 2011 9:24 PM EDT up reply actions

I'd love to see her and Osi sit down for a chat...hilarious

So, adding DE depth, what's the over/under on Osi's tenure?

I’d say one week, 5 PM EST 8/12/11

Who’s taking the under?

Having met Dave in person, I am stoked to see him back.

He’s a really awesome dude. Great to have him sticking around. He’s a picture-perfect back-up.
