I think they will have more DBs
Also I doubt they will keep 5 DTs. Bernard and Watson are going to fight it out for the last spot.

temporary brain fart
who would be next in line at DB?

Coe or Witherspoon for special teams I'd say

Looks good
but I’d say Herzlich is also a candidate to not make the team. Also Watson or Bernard aren’t making it, and I’d say Stacy Andrews isn’t close to a lock either.
Last night, a comedian died in New York. Somebody knows why. Somebody knows
I knew we usually keep around 6-7 LBs
It was either Herzlich or Williams. It’ll depend on ST. You’re right, mclaren also said Watson/Bernard both might not make it…looks like overkill.
Andrews, from what I’ve heard, looks solid….and who would we replace for watson/bernard?

So, no Matt Dodge?
u should find something else to do! You like the GM,you have your head up your ass!!!!!!!!! we have not singed a linebacker in years think about it, he has on Herry Carson JERSEY, HE is not a pimple on his ass, like I said find something elese to do like go play in the road out side of the stadium, may be u could talk about that. your inputs suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! go back were was the last linebacker we had, get rid of the GM and find someone knows talent.. DON`T KNOW ABOUT ANYONE ELSE IT IS GETTING SICKING..
no
we’re going 8-8 regardless

No way in hell we're keeping 2 punters...
this was surprisingly difficult for me as it is…
It was either Weatherford or Dodge, and Dodge STILL looks inconsistent and Coughlin isn’t gonna take that shit.

I'd drop Coe
and go with Williams. Both can show up on specials, and LB is wide open right now, while the secondary is pretty solidified.
You down wit JPP?
I hear ya,
I do think though, that CB depth is kind of weak. We have nothing behind a dime CB. It was really hard for me to drop Williams though, and I think if he takes over a spot, it would be over Herzlich.

5 Guards might be overkill. I would eliminate white & put in cruz until SS comes back

Well, Diehl can double as an OT
and Snee and Boothe double as C’s. That’s why I figured it would be important to keep a bunch around.

Hate this part of the season
I was hoping the new CBA would raise the roster number.
yeah aint that stupid
the camp roster went from 80 to 90 but the reg season roster is still at 53. I would think that makes it even harder to decide who to cut

pretty good run down
doubt they have that many O-Linemen… a few may be able to be “hidden” on the practice squad like Brewer and White

wouldnt you think he would at least see that we already have a starting QB
I mean Eli was named MVP of the Super Bowl a few years ago. Or has he been living under a rock for the past few years?

I count 52 total. You’ve 26 on O, not 27.
3 potential suitors for that last spot that I’d like to see make it are:
-Devin Thomas
-Dave Tollefson (although they already gave away his number)
-Jacquain Williams (he’s probably more than likely PS material)

No prob man, nice work.
I anticipate some injuries (dear god hopefully not many or to key contributors), some additional signings, and some head scratching cuts. But overall, it looks like a pretty damn solid roster.

Last year they kept 10 on the OL, you've upped it to 11
Possible, but I think they will decide between Chris White, Stacy Andrews and perhaps Get Your Jamon Meredith.
That would give you an extra spot on defense
The game-day active went up from 45 to 46
but, as I understand it, that extra man doesn’t have to be a QB anymore, and I think the rule disallowing one of the previous QBs to re-enter the game after the 3rd guy comes in have been abolished.
Not sure about that, though.

Boss #89
I don’t know if anyone noticed, but word is that Ben Patrick is wearing Boss’s #89. Maybe it’s just me, but that’s definitely not a good sign for bringing Bossman back. I’d be even more terrified if they gave David Carr #12!
I think that was a misprint, its #83 now

Pretty Close
That’s pretty close to what we’re looking at for opening day. I’m afraid a few of those guys will be injured over the next few weeks which will make the decisions much easier and not have to worry about who to cut. A lot of those decisions play themselves out. I like the idea of two undrafted guys making the team (Hynoski/Herzlich). I think finding those gems are paramount in fielding a strong 53 man roster. Great job!
P.S Any reason we throw a league minimum offer out to Richie Seubert to to back up C/G? I know he loves being a NY Giant and he doesn’t seem to be getting a whole lot of offers on the open market.
I think they'll take a look at Seubert if they have some injuries to the OL
he’s still probably hurt so its not like he’ll be ready for opening day, but if he’s still out there a few weeks into the season and we need him, I think he’ll sign.
It really doesn’t matter what we’d be thin at either. If its T, Diehl can go to T. If its a G, then Seubert goes there.
Last night, a comedian died in New York. Somebody knows why. Somebody knows

I remembered reading that somewhere, but I read so many Giants sites/blogs these days that I’m sure it was just a typo. I feel a little better about that, but still concerned why Boss isn’t in the building right now. I understand it’s a business, but for what reason would he even be considered the Raiders. Does he not realize it’s the Raiders? I’m starting to question his mental makeup now! RAIDERS!
The Greatness Of The Raidahs.
Why wouldn’t he want to go to a quality organization like that? To have a chance to step onto the hallowed grass of Overstock.com Coliseum? To be a part of the Al Davis Committment To Excellence? To bond with grown fans who spend half their paycheck and time playing dressup?
Well, the weather’s nice.

Position Battles
This is probably better suited for it’s own post, but in your opinion, (injuries aside) what are some of the positional battles you’re looking for in the next month? Any who would you like to see winning that battle. I’ll start….
- QB Rosenfels vs Carr – I’d like to see Sage traded to get a late round pick back for a team that needs a backup. No reason to keep 3 QB’s on this roster. either way, if Eli isn’t QB’ing, what’s the difference anyway?
- RB DJ Ware vs Da’Rel Scott?
- DB Prince vs Ross?
- WR Hixon vs Barden vs Jernigan vs Thomas vs Clayton?
- Safety Sash vs Thomas?
- DT Bernard vs Joseph vs Austin?
- OLB Kiwi vs Sintim?
Let me know your thoughts and opinions.
Carr
Ware (Scott ain’t going anywhere though)
Prince
Barden ain’t in the convo b/c he’s PUP and def making the team….but IMO Thomas
Sash vs. TT ain’t competition….fewell just doesn’t know how to call a CB a CB and a S a S
Joseph
Kiwi
TeamJPP
Sash vs. TT
I was referring to that 3rd down, 3rd safety role that Deon Grant played last year. Maybe they eliminate that role this year, but it seemed to be pretty successful.
Intersting
Rosenfels vs Carr – You are absolutely right in that we don’t keep 3 QBs. Both seem interchangeable to me, and Carr has a more manageable contract, so I’m thinking Sage is gone.
DJ Ware vs Da’Rel Scott – Ware wins this easily I think. Scott has to prove himself on special teams before he even sniffs the 53 man roster.
Prince vs Ross – I think Ross wins because Prince has had no time to practice/study playbook. Eventually Prince takes over though, but not to start out the season
Jernigan and Hixon beat out Barden (reason being – PUP) and Thomas/Clayton – Jernigan and Hixon will make their money on ST and will be bigger playmakers than Thomas or Clayton. Thomas would beat out Clayton.
Sash vs Thomas – Like andiamo says below, basically interchangeable but Sash will again, make his looks mostly on ST to start the year. He seems to have gotten a name for himself in camp though, Tuck compliments him on twitter.
Bernard vs Joseph vs Austin – This should probably be just Bernard vs Joseph for starting fat DT reps next to Canty. I think Joseph wins out, with Bernard (or Watson) along with Austin, back up Joseph and Canty, respectfully.
Kiwi vs Sintim – I’m beginning to think it will be Kiwi.
Most interesting is the back up LB role:
Jones vs Tracy vs Herzlich vs Williams vs Dillard vs Paysinger

The MUNSTERS of the Midway still suck!
LB'ers
Jones vs Tracy vs Herzlich vs Williams vs Dillard vs Paysinger?
I was never really a fan of Dillard’s. He played LB behind Suh in college who was tripled team on every play leaving him to clean up and rack up tackles a lot of times unblocked. I think he was a bit overrated coming out of college and hasn’t really impressed too much to this point.
I’m really high on Jones, although he needs to bulk up a little bit IMO. I watched a few games of his in college and liked what I saw. Really suprised he last until the 6th round.
Herzlich obviously is everyone’s fan favorite. I’d love to see him make the team, but at who’s expense. We’ll see how healthy he is in the next few weeks.
Williams looks real fast on video and could be a ST beast, but with limited time to learn the playbook and not much time to impress, could be a practive squad guy for the first year.
Tracy, honestly I just haven’t seen too much of him, but have heard good things.
Paysinger – don’t know much about it really, but he doesn’t sound like a guy that is anything more than a ST contributer.
apparently Paysinger is doing well in training camp
My heart says Jones and Herzlich
My brain says Jones and Dillard.
Get Better, Not Bitter.
by BigBlueIntervention on Aug 5, 2011 11:28 AM EDT up reply actions
I could see Dillard cut
When a team brings in 3 MLB in basically 12 months being a draft pick isn’t as secure. Especially in this case. Herz comin off that major injury should just be rounding into game shape. I can barely remember Dillard getting into plays even on ST. So if Herz comes in is a standout on STs (Like Tasker) and shows promise at MLB, Dill is on thin ice.
I think that Williams, Tracy and Payslinger are battling for outside slots. Having seen Tracy, it’s hard to see him getting cut unless he’s hurt again. Williams seems very much in that mold too, long rangy athletic quick. I don’t think Payslinger has much of a shot.
I think there will be a drafted LB that gets cut
Either Williams or Dillard or Tracy.
Paysinger / Ingram might actually make the team because people are raving about their training camp
by mclaren_is_the_best on Aug 5, 2011 11:51 AM EDT up reply actions
Dillard
I guess the next few weeks will play it’s way out. I would like to see what Dillard brings to the table in the preseason games. I think Herzlich will be the fan favorite obviously and personally think he’s more talented overall, but we’ll have to see if he’ll ever regain form from 2008. If he does, than we just stole a potential 1st round talent, if not, then no harm.
I think I heard some good things about Kenny Ingram as well. He could be a wild card in the mix.
Be serious
Cruz will make the team,He’s too good.Stop with the 10 or 11 lineman. They don’t rotate in like other positions. You don’t need 6 backups, they can all switch positions. They will only keep 8 maybe 9,and keep xtra linebackers and dbs to help on special teams. This is not what we want. You have to look at what Coughlin does every year.
Everytime I read about training camp
Its Cruz or Jerg is dropping a pass. I still believe Jerz will make the team but don’t know bout Cruz. Cruz will have to have another preseason like he did last year.
The greatest player ever!!!
I am serious
Cruz hasn’t shown anything except one preseason game. Devin Thomas made valuable ST plays and subbed in nicely at WR last year. He gets the nod over Cruz.

27 offence and 23 defence has not been the split so far.
I think we have carried 8-9 O-linemen in the past, so 11 might be stretching it.
And I really see us taking a 7th reciever, given our problems at that position last year.
Also 4 is max number of DT’s possible, given our pechnant for lining up DE’s at the DT position.
But can’t argue with much else.
I got rid of Chris White
and I think Scott is a casualty when (if) SS12 comes back, which makes it 7 WR.

I'll disagree there
With our lack of center experience, I think White makes it over Andrews.
We play a lot of 3-safety sets. So we need 4 safeties. Could be Michael Johnson or Grant.
Ballard over Patrick. We need blocking help more with a rookie FB and no Boss.
No three SAMs. Need to cut one.
"Good, bad, I'm the guy with the gun."
53 man rosters
Wel, Ballard over Patrick is a definite now. SS12 has to be brought back, has to! I think the RB position is going to be interesting to see who claims the last spot. DJ Ware signed a contract, but between Charles, Scott & Brown he’s going to have competition for that last spot. I think it may come down to who contributes more on special teams.
I wish they would have increased the rosters to 54 or 55 players, but these things typically play themselves out and some of these decisions aren’t that hard when we’ll typically be picking up more guys before the season starts just to field a 53 man roster,
This to me is what makes the 4th quarter of a blowout preseason game exciting to a fan like me, to be able to watch a young guy pushing for that extra yard or diving on the ground for that loose ball to try and lock up that 53rd spot on the team. Sorry, just having a Rudy moment! lol
GOOD WORK.
Agree 100%

LET'S GO RANGERS!!!
I guess you'll have to update it by cutting out Patrick...
