Peyton Hillis in da house.

Disclaimer: I've been out of the Madden loop for a little while. I downloaded the demo the other day and I've been more interested this year than years past (thanks lockout), so I did a little research. I'm interested in seeing which players have accurate numbers, and also which player I'm going to want to control for the most part. I also wanted to see what peoples' preferences are with gaming systems for sports, as I have both xbox and ps3 and am trying to decide which one to buy. I know, I'm nerding out.

Reaction

1. You can't teach speed. Madden programmers believe it, and Da'Rel Scott should be happy about it too. He could be a Madden star. Bradshaw's numbers look pretty good too.

2. This just in: Tuck is a beast (no sarcasm font in fanposts). His ratings show that he is going to be a force on the d-line, which shouldn't really surprise anyone.

3. This isn't real? Yeah, these ratings are absurd for some players. Jacobs and Nicks are underrated, Hedgecock is overrated. Before you jump on that statement, remember that Jacobs is rated as an 80, Hedgecock an 83.

4. Injuries shminjuries. Apparently a lot of ratings don't include injury status, as indicated by O'Hara, et al. There's also an "Injury" rating for each position...except OL.

5. Have you lost weight? Some of the overall numbers seem to be skewed by other less-important categories. Osi should be higher than an 89 as he has high numbers in almost every category, but he has a 61 rating for Jump and a 55 rating for Hit Power.

6. Where my homies at? Some players are unavailable, not sure if that's the fault of the website or the designers, but we'll find out soon enough.

7. I'm having a "WTF moment". Vick is rated as a 93 overall. Have fun with that one. Romo? 88.

I understand that evaluating every player in the NFL is a difficult task, and most of these people may have never thrown a spiral in their lives, but I think there needs to be a re-examining of the numbers. I know, this probably happens every year. I also know that the rosters/numbers get updated during the season, so you don't have to tell me those two things, ok thanks.

Question

What do you guys think?
