I was inspired by the debate in another thread regarding Gilbride. I decided to do some research. I only searched rushing, passing and total yard on offense and what we allowed on defense. Offensively we are down significantly the last 4 games of the season versus the first 12 games.
Offense Since 2008
From Week 1 -13
Avg Rushing Yards per game on offense: 142
Passing Yards: 233
Total Yards: 375
From week 14 - 17
Avg Rushing Yards per game on offense: 118
Passing Yards: 224
Total Yards: 342
I then broke it down between home and road games.
Home Week 1-13:
Avg Rushing Yards per game on offense: 147
Passing Yards: 233
Total Yards: 380
Home Week 14-17:
Avg Rushing Yards per game on offense: 136
Passing Yards: 236
Total Yards: 372
Away Week 1-13:
Avg Rushing Yards per game on offense: 137
Passing Yards: 232
Total Yards: 336
Away Week 14-17:
Avg Rushing Yards per game on offense: 105
Passing Yards: 215
Total Yards: 321
I compared our stats to the Jets 2009-2010 and Steelers 2008-2010
Jets All games
Rushing yards (1-13) 158
Rushing Yards (14-17) 165
Passing Yards (1-13) 182
Passing Yards (14-17) 156
Steelers All games
Rushing yards (1-13) 114
Rushing Yards (14-17) 106
Passing Yards (1-13) 223
Passing Yards (14-17) 250
It appears the Steelers change their offensive philosophy. They have more success throwing the ball.
