My Hopes and Concerns for the New York Giants

As a die hard New York Giants fan, this has been a tough offseason.  The Giants have lost good players to free agency, and have done little in offseason acquisitions in comparision to a certain NFC East rival, the Eagles.  Added the injuries that we have received and the Osi drama, and not to mention the lockout this summer, this definitely seems like the worst offseason in quite a while.  While I agree with JR's decision not to pay Kevin Boss the money that Oakland did, (he was just injured btw) I am as most of us are angry with the loss of Eli's favorite security blanket, and to the Eagles nonetheless.

Star-divide

I want to remind everyone of the NFL's last "Dreamteam"--The Patriots who went 18 and 1 and fell in the game that really matters to your New York Giants.  While yes the Eagles cornerbacks now with Nnamdi Asomugha, DRC, and still Asante Samuel, are a bit intimidating, their safeties and d-line are not that great, well at least the Giants' are better.

Now for injuries the biggest one at the moment is TT's season ending ACL tear.  I wish him the best of luck in recovery, but what I want to see him do the most is spend time with another injured cornerback, Prince Amukamara.  I think TT should be working with Prince to help him learn the playbook while he is out of the game.  TT could very well help mentor Prince, so that by the time Prince has recovered from his injury and gets back to football he can play.  Let's be honest no one here feels to confident about Aaron Ross being a starter.

With wide receiver I would like to see the young guys battle for the third spot like they have been.  I do not want an outsider coming into be our third wr.  My personal favorites for the spot are Domenik Hixon, Victor Cruz, and if he was not injured I'd say Barden.

Beckum has potential at TE, my question is can he better develop his blocking and can the Giants OC find the right way to use him.

Overall I think if the Giants are not bitten by the injury bug again and if the Giant's offensive line meshes together into a cohesive group, I can see us at 10 and 6 again this year, with a sweep of the Deadskins and Cowboys, and a split with the Eagles.  Oh and this year 10 and 6 should get us into the playoffs.

Please, PLEASE don’t refer to us as a dream team. We are far from it.

random, but its good to see Eagles fans on BBV

alot of us are tired with debating with each other haha. Some chill rival fans are exactly what BBV needs.

I’m usually always checking out BBV and BTB. I def like BBV fans much more than BTB though.

Wide Receivers...

Hixon & Cruz along with Devin Thomas….make the team….Jernigan either #6 or IR with some ailement. Devin proved to me he can get forward yards on kickoffs, not lateral yards…like our previous returners. Not sure Jernigan showed enough on punt returns for me, though we will probably carry 6 WR. Ramses may never get off the sidelines….shame….i thought he could be a Plax type of impact guy….been wrong before….wrong again. TE position is wide open.

Thomas was very impressive on kickoffs

He picked a seam and hit it with great speed. No dancing, no hesitation.

Where was Bekum last night?

To me, he was invisible.

I will be at the season opener NYG @ WAS with a few friends. If you are going and feel like looking up a fellow BBVer and having some fun, let me know.

Is it just me

or had JJ12 looked horrible returning punts? He catches the ball does 17 differnet jukes standing in place then gets laid out everytime it seems like, or am I just crazy? Too bad I thought he could make an impact there, but he still can don’t get me wrong just needs to be coaches up a little more i guess.

Devin Thomas returned for more yards

than the whole Giants team did last year…… i say he makes the team, just because he runs Nortth south on the field….his first step was always forward. JJ 12, on the other hand, was trying to be cute, and i think actually lost yards on his punt returns….we saw too much of that with Reynaud last year….JJ better start to learn that FORWARD yards count………..no style points in this league.
