"No deal has been reworked,'' Umenyiora wrote in an email to the AP. "What has been offered has been unacceptable and shows they don't really respect the fact I sacrifice my health for the franchise. I will play under my current deal because I love and respect my Coaches, my teammates, the fans, and myself. Not for those incentives."

LOL!
It's funny to say this about a team that plays where they play, but the New York Giants like it when nobody notices them. They like being forgotten, underestimated, treated as an afterthought. They're OK with the Jets getting all the back-page-tabloid attention and the Eagles being the big offseason story because of their free-agent shopping spree. The Giants believe in their own way of doing things, and if that means lying in the weeds while people on the outside are distracted by other teams that are hot at the moment, that's fine with them.

you’d totally be getting one your way if it did, ct17. JPP has his number. The Giants won 2 battles this year so far: Bradshaw and Osi. These guys lost their leverage fast.

I not a fan of his actions right now.
How about the huge signing bonus you signed? The team put a huge amount in you, and paid you while you rehabbed, and while you had a down year. Nows your turn to pay the team back.

In other words
his agent said “we can’t win this one buddy”. Plus a little FYI for those who don’t know. If he restructures his contract now. He can’t get a new one if he’s traded. you can only do it once in, I believe, a 2 year span. So it’s not for the “love of the coaches, teammates, and fans” like he says. it’s strategic.

Really? If he "restructures" now, then he can't "extended" later?
That kinda blows if so. I think if adding years is involved they should allow that. What’s the thinking?

Like I said
both sides are going to have to swallow some pride. The Giants reworked some contracts to offer him some more money but he can’t swallow his pride in the fact he’s not getting what he wants.
I think he’s going to pull a Shockey and become very unreasonable at practice and the first time he’s hurt he’ll sit.
Comments like this shows someone that is not mature and I base that on the fact he says he ‘loves’ his coaches. I’ve been hesitant not to trade him but this shows someone that isn’t hitting on all cylinders mentally.
He’s going to pull a TO/Shockey like behavior. Just my opinion.

Not to mention
how pissed off is Rolle and (can’t remember the other person) who re-worked their deal and took less money this season and now Osi doesn’t take the deal.
Get this guy out of town JR. Get us a good deal. A 2nd and 4th, possibly conditionally a first if he gets 15+ sacks.

Making it a bonus spreads out the cap hit over the remainder of their contract. So it frees up room this year if some salary becomes a bonus.

it’s going to be a game of “wait and see”. JR doesn’t usually make blockbuster trades during the season, but it’s looking like this could be the case with Osi.
let JPP play like the man-monster he is, let Osi come in and rack up some sack-fumble stats, and other teams will be waiting in the mist to grab another solid pass rusher to make that playoff run later on in the season. i’m thinking we’ll get a solid trade for Osi when the time is right.

Welcome back Osi!
Despite what everyone says, we are a better team with you.
Having Osi allows Kiwi to focus on LB completely. It also keeps JPP and Tuck fresh, and allows Canty to play the inside.
Tuck, Osi, JPP, Canty, Joseph, Austin, Bernard, Tollie is an awesome Dline, and Kiwi will help out the linebacker position.
Welcome back Osi!

the guy gets torched with the run. Plus, his diva attitude rubs Giants fans the wrong way. General concensus, based on what I’ve heard from other Giants fans, his play we like; his attitude, we don’t.
Look, if Tuck, who’s one of Osi’s biggest fans, stops defending him, then there’s definitely something going on that’s less than admirable.

I have a feeling he’ll be riding the pine while he learns the ropes. This is such a deep and talented core of receivers. I was skeptical of Hixon making a full comeback. But he is back. That was a great sign. That and JPP’s awesome display were the two brightest spots to me.
Go Giants!
Here's the deal, fellas...
If Osi is going to go out in a Giants uniform on Sundays then we, as fans, have a vested interest in seeing him healthy and happy. Whatever issues one might take with his methods of negotiation needs to at least try to shelve those feelings until the season is played out. I’m not pointing fingers because I have been highly critical of Osi but fans screaming WITH him not AT him will probably produce a much more favorable result for both.

It is an interesting dance
that JR and TC have to do in this Osi situation. How they play it will have alot to do with how much they want to keep him, coupled with how likely they feel that he will stop all the shenanigans.
There has been thousands of speculative opinions on here to what the Giants want/will do with Osi. I have always thought that there was only one way to play this, the way JR is playing it because Osi has no leverage.
But it is a fluid situation. I am curious to see if JPP will start over him. If that is the case, I’m not sure what Osi will do. But I would almost expect him to cause big trouble in that situation.
I read somewhere around here that JPP would gladly LET Osi start over him.
Does anyone know that for sure?

he's rejecting the insentives
because he still wants that new contract with another team. You can’t rework a contract twice in a year. My guess is, JR said, ‘Osi, we will put you on the trading block, but you need to get on the field or else we’re not going to get what we want in return."
maybe something will pop up in the next few weeks.
"The nerve of certain youngins running their mouth.

Read above
You can’t redo a contract again for two years if he accepts. I think he’s come to terms with the reality that if he really wants out and wants his big contract, he has to first play and play well. Prove he’s healthy and can still perform at his usual sack master self. Then if JR decides we can afford to trade him because JPP is ready anyway, he will have the leverage to get a #1 draft pick. Then everybody wins. The way it was playing out, nobody was going to win.
Go Giants!
yeah but
he would have to get like another 11 sacks & 8 FF in order to warrant anyone dishing a 1st rd pick. He may not get enough snaps to do that. And he’ll be ANOTHER year older. Then what happens if he gets hurt. He gets NOTHING at all.
Take the money, play hard, & cash in at the end of this deal.
Nobody wins the SB in August
Nah
If he shows he still has it in preseason and another contending team thinks all it needs is a pass rusher to make its defense complete, they will be very tempted to give a #1 for him. They’ll figure it’s a very late #1 anyway, since they’ll think he’s the missing piece, right?
Go Giants!
That's about 50% correct
the 4 teams that were interested were rumored to be Balt & Sea (not likely) & SD & NE (very close)

It's funny to say this about a team that plays where they play, but the New York Giants like it when nobody notices them. They like being forgotten, underestimated, treated as an afterthought. They're OK with the Jets getting all the back-page-tabloid attention and the Eagles being the big offseason story because of their free-agent shopping spree. oh man
that would be awesome. TQ would have no idea how to handle that.
"Oh sir, the Giants of New York took on the Packers of Green Bay. And in the end, the Giants triumphed by kicking an oblong ball made of pigskin through a big "H". It was a most ripping victory."
and by "awesome", i mean "awkward"

I'll be glad to see him back
I’m not mad at him for wanting more money, its something any player would and has done. NFL contracts are the furthest thing from Iron Clad so its funny to hear people pipe in with “honor the contract you signed.”
I will still wear my SB XLII Umenyiora jersey on Sundays.
I don't know man
$41 Million for a 6year contract
and paid about $14 Million for 2 years of nothingness or mediocrity
it’s his turn to give back to the organization that stood by him and paid him when he was out hurt or rehabbing and playing not up to par

amen, bro
he needs to earn that $$ for the years he was watching the games on tv
"Oh sir, the Giants of New York took on the Packers of Green Bay. And in the end, the Giants triumphed by kicking an oblong ball made of pigskin through a big "H". It was a most ripping victory."
I'd still prefer to see these
1st and 2nd down
Tuck (LDE) – Joseph (NT) – Canty (RDT) – JPP (RDE)
Boley (WILL) – Goff (MIKE) – Sintim (SAM)
3rd-and-long:
JPP (LDE) – Tuck (LDT) – Canty (NT) – Osi (RDE)
Kiwi (WILL) – Goff (MIKE) – Sintim (SAM)
"It's time for other guys to have opportunities." -- Tom Coughlin
It's about damn time. Why weren't they given opportunities before? Huh?!?!
Did Sintim play?
I did not see him.
All the Giants should play like Mark Bavaro.
Tom Quinn Must Go!
It is equally worthless when people are always optimistic as it is when they are always pessimistic. Either way I take their opinion with a pound of salt because I know they only have one setting. I post my own thoughts, not what either side wants to read.

No, he was inactive (knee)
I will be at the season opener NYG @ WAS with a few friends. If you are going and feel like looking up a fellow BBVer and having some fun, let me know.
Osi does not deserve respect
Everyone sacrifices.
Stop whining and take your money. We’d all be happy with it. You are acting like a spoiled child.

Dude's made $50MM already on the field
So he needs to stop with the pity party angle.
He lost this battle anyway, haaaa. Get on the field & do your thing, f’in baby.
Players don't play every snap.
Most likely Osi starts at RDE, which is fine. If he plays well his value increases, which is definitely a positive.
Osi and Tuck wont be playing every down, and JPP can play both ends and can spot either of them. Also, on NASCAR packages or 3rd and longs we could definitely see JPP come in along with both Osi and Tuck.
It also allows us to keep Kiwi on the field as a LB.
JPP Tuck Canty Osi
Boley Goff Kiwi
is really awesome guys.
"Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."
LET'S GO RANGERS!!!
It's amazing how fast you fall out of favor in this town
One dimensional or not, Osi has been a productive player for this team and the way fans are going at him is more than a little unfair. I hope JPP develops into the monster I think he will be, but I think Osi being here makes the Giants that much better. I also realize that if he does’nt want to be here anymore, the team should do something either way, but to constantly attack him for him asking for more money is beyond ridiculous now. Strahan was far worse than Osi is now with his demands ( I realize Stray is probably a Hall of Famer, Osi probably won’t be) and he is’nt on the level of Shockey either trying to force his way out. Players chirp all the time about wanting more money, that’s between him and the Giants, how is that affecting us the fans? it is’nt, nor should it. the Giants could just as easily trade him and be done with it if he was that much of a distraction ( which they still may do anyway) but they obviously feel the team is better WITH him. As long as he is wearing Giant blue I will root for him until he is’nt here anymore.
