Osi Umenyiora has received a new contract offer from the New York Giants, according to Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network. Also, according to LaCanfora Umenyiora still does not like the new offer and would prefer to be traded.
So, Umenyiora might begin practicing with the Giants on Monday since he has been cleared by doctors to return to the field. The Umenyiora saga, though, appears to be far from over and still might not end in a reconciliation between the team and the disgruntled defensive end.
Per LaCanfora, the Giants have offered Umenyiora anywhere from $400,000 to $1 million in additional money based on incentives and production.
LaCanfora also reported that four teams -- Baltimore, Seattle, San Diego and New England -- are interested in making a deal for him.
Umenyiora has, of course, been seeking a new contract or a trade to a team that will give him a new contract for some time now. He has two years remaining on a deal that will pay him more than $7 million over the course of the contract.
