RIP
Don Chandler, kicker, punter. In '65 roomed with another rookie, Sam Huff. Huff, a small lineman (6' i"
230), never thought he'd make it in the pros. Chandler was discouraged as well. They fled camp, but were intercepted at the train station by OC, Vinnie Lombardi, who persuaded them to return. DC Tom Landry chose Huff to play MLB in the new 4-3 D and Huff wound up in the HOF. Allie Sherman later stripped the Giants D in trades, Including Huff to Washington. Chandler said he wouldn't play for Sherman. He was snapped up by Lombardi in a trade to Green Bay. Later Huff came out of retirement to play/coach for Lombardi in Washington.

George!
Nice to hear from you. Haven’t seen you around the threads in a while and I worried about you. BTW, I should have found a way to work Chandler into a notebook.
I'm more a BBV eavesdropper than participant these days.
So many people commenting that by the time I get to reading, whatever I might have said has already been said. No need to worry. I’m doing fine. Caught a trout this AM, ate it for dinner.
Well
That’s all good. Drop me a line if you are in upstate NY.

Hey Gonz
A Giant has gone
Many friends he left behind
Call this our last cheer
It takes great work and thinking to keep from doing work.

And to think he and Huff almost quit...
When I hear about the death of a Giant, even a fella I never heard of, I feel like a family member has been lost.
I have three kids and have been told that the Giants are my fourth kid. RIP Don Chandler.
I will be at the season opener NYG @ WAS with a few friends. If you are going and feel like looking up a fellow BBVer and having some fun, let me know.
blue where have you gonz !?
Sorry.

Nice to come back to something that matters during a week of drama
"That's mostly fans who say that kind of stuff and they really don't understand the process. We have good players on the team. We're not looking to go out and make every sexy splash that can be made. We make solid football decisions. That's been happening for a long time," Reese said

Nice comment Gonz
and I’m in the same boat with you. The folks on this site are quick with a lot
of football knowledge. So I just sit back and read. Fresh trout is mighty good
although I’m partial to crappie and beer.
wait...did someone just mention trout?!?!
way off topic but what’s your go-to setup for that?

I troll
light action rod, six lb test line, 3 way swivel, six oz. wght, Williams wabler or Sutton silver spoon. I go down about sixty feet this time of year. (lake is 400 ft at deepest point.) Won’t be going out much more this summer (or at all if my wife has her way.). It’s 120 steps down to my dock and I need another ankle operation. I’ll get it when I’m in flat Florida.
you do the bass fishing in Florida?
if you’re into the largemouth, there are some serious beasts, I go down twice a year.

Good to see you Blue
even if it’s because of a sad occasion. We (I at least) miss your Giant History insights
