there's time on SS12
He’s going to open the season PUP, and will probably end up with a 1 year deal to reestablish his value. So missing camp time is not an issue.
Plus, under the new CBA, only the top 51 player salaries count against the cap. On a one year deal, SS12 will not get a big deal or too much guarantee, so it’s not all that clear that his deal will make a big impact on the cap as he pushes someone else below the magic #15 line.
In other words, it doesn’t hurt him or the Giants for him to sign any time during the preseason.
Boss, on the other hand, needs to fish or cut bait sooner rather than later.
"Sometimes nothing can be a real cool hand."
true dat

Now we have to talk Randy Moss

When its 3rd and long, throw the ball past the marker.

love the office reference. hey AB, guess what?
"Oh sir, the Giants of New York took on the Packers of Green Bay. And in the end, the Giants triumphed by kicking an oblong ball made of pigskin through a big "H". It was a most ripping victory."
Great news
Now give him the “Program” treatment and make him carry a ball wherever he goes. Any fans who pass him on the street should feel obligated to go for the strip. Don’t be afraid, it’s for his own good…

I hope Reese didn't cave in for the big bucks.
World Series attitude, champagne bottle life, nothing every changes so tonight is like tomorrow night.
Good ... On to the next guy
Assume Bradshaw didn’t break the bank. Other than S.Smith and Boss (and Osi saga) … anyone else out there a good fit worth signing?
Lofa Tutapu
might be a good veteran LB, but for a rotational role similar to Bulluck’s last year.
BBV- Bring Back Van Pelt
Lofa is not going to be rotated
he aint signing up for that at all
Peyton May Have The Wins!!

probably not
but I’m not so sure he’s been playing well enough to call the shots.
BBV- Bring Back Van Pelt
I dont think his play is that big of an issue
I think his contract is the problem although he did lose a lii weight and wasnt as sturdy in the middle like years past i think that has to do more with the D line than him. Im sure he got the blame though.

I would love it
however i dont think he would fit in our cap situation… but i would be thrilled if they pulled him in
Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that.

Bradshaw
is a hard runner and a known quantity in our offense.
He’s a star in the making and I’m thrilled he’ll be back.
BBV- Bring Back Van Pelt
I'm glad too bc
i want a solid run game and with the guys back esp AB who led NFL in rushing last year for a few weeks ended up with 1200 yards or so with some TDs tagged in there. That is a solid RB. Plus the way his helmet moves when he cuts tell me who wouldnt miss that.
Finally some good news
Now can we just get JR to sign a LB. We have to get some top LB out there because Grand Ma’s bridge club isn’t going to get it done. How said is it when a UFA is the bright spot of the LB strategy.
LISTEN MAAAAN!!!! WE HAVE LB'S NOW HUSH!!!!! here is a direct quote for the masses from JR
since i cant get any of you to shut your traps on the LB talk for the last 5 months maybe he can;
“Q: Do you feel like you need to sign a veteran Linebacker?
A: I anticipate the linebackers that we have playing and somebody coming out of the shadows. I am tired of people saying the Giants don’t have the Linebackers. The Linebacker group should take that as a challenge. They should take that as a challenge from me that we have linebackers. You have to develop somebody at some point. We have some young players that have to step up and that’s what I think about the linebackers."
Peyton May Have The Wins!!
But Eli Will Have The Rings!!!
Skydiving?Forgot your parachute? TUCK AND ROLLE! On fire? TUCK AND ROLLE Got shot? TUCK AND ROLLE Lost your car keys? TUCK AND ROLLE Failed that history test? TUCK AND ROLLE.
Sounds good
Only problem is that’s what Reese said that last year and clearly we need help at LB. Got my fingers crossed becasue it seems our LB’s are not going to change much.
by Late for Dinner on Aug 1, 2011 4:38 PM EDT up reply actions
I remember that quote...
Not trying to be a Debbie Downer (looks into the cameras and hold…….)
but it’s sounds like the same talk as last year. We’ve all been waiting for a LB to step up for so long, maybe we don’t realize when someone does. Goff took his game to a higher level, but we had a few people on the market who’ve already been signed. What do we do now? tell the Sneagles to wait? Either you are growing or you are dying.
This group has been circling the drain for a while.
Yes and Goff stepped up
now its time for him to step up more and for someone to lock down SAM……other than that im not jumping off a bridge.
Peyton May Have The Wins!!
But Eli Will Have The Rings!!!

lets see the $$$. I’d imagine its pretty good considering we might of bluffed with snelling. bradshaw definatly felt the pressure to sign.
Happy here.
Would like to see Osi signed to an extension after FA’s all cleared. But I fear he won’t be happy with anything other than an unfairly rich deal so I think at best we’ll have to deal with his whining for a lot longer, and at worst, he’s gone.
But let’s enjoy the re-signing of AB for now.

In perspective, Giants gave BJac 4 yrs, $25 mill w/ $13 mill guaranteed.
In other news, rotoworld speculates that Aaron Ross could be on the trading block. What would he fetch? 5th rounder?
Get Better, Not Bitter.

Ross would probably bring back a slightly used tackling dummy
Maybe a new training table and some tape
by Late for Dinner on Aug 1, 2011 4:43 PM EDT up reply actions
Its just rotoworld speculating, but its an interesting thought
http://rotoworld.com/player/nfl/4210/aaron-ross
Giants CB Aaron Ross is refusing to play safety going forward after seeing action there in a pinch last season.
“I’m not willing to do safety anymore,” he said. “Wouldn’t entertain it.” Ross has been dogged by lower-leg and foot injuries over the past two seasons, starting just two games and missing 13. After the Giants used a first-round pick on Prince Amukamara, it isn’t out of the question that Ross could be on the trade block at the end of camp. He’s in the last year of his deal.

by BigBlueIntervention on Aug 1, 2011 4:45 PM EDT up reply actions
I like him better at CB too but...
if his hammy can’t hold up, then he’ll be better suited to contributing by playing a bit of hybrid/safety in a pinch. Or, the freaking shelf or dustbin. And I like Ross I really do. But he’s not reading TC’s tee-shirts apparently..
by BigBlueDeadHead on Aug 1, 2011 4:48 PM EDT up reply actions
This is ridiculous.
He doesn’t want to play safety, because he wants to concentrate on playing corner. He wants to be the corner back that he thinks he can be. What’s so wrong with that?
Dude is having a great training camp so far. It would be ridiculous for the Giants to even think about trading him for those remarks.
I doubt he's being traded cuz he doesn't want to play somewhere he's not supposed to
Ross is a CB
Last night, a comedian died in New York. Somebody knows why. Somebody knows
To be honest
I’d rather have Bruce Johnson at the vet minimum plus an extra 4th or 5th rounder versus Aaron Ross at 1.25 mill
Get Better, Not Bitter.
by BigBlueIntervention on Aug 1, 2011 4:53 PM EDT up reply actions
with all the WRs you face nowadays
I don’t like a 5’7 midget on the field. If Ross gets us a 4th rounder then fine.
Last night, a comedian died in New York. Somebody knows why. Somebody knows
Shach... would I be wrong in compairing Ross to Will Peterson?
by Late for Dinner on Aug 1, 2011 4:54 PM EDT up reply actions
worthless son of a bitch
get rid of him, now
by MrDollarBills on Aug 1, 2011 4:53 PM EDT up reply actions
ross just gets injured way too much
I doubt he gets traded he has one yr left on his contract.. maybe hell actually play well for that money. He knows if he has another dud season hell get a bad contract
by wrxsti28 on Aug 1, 2011 4:44 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions
Another dud injury prone season and Ross
Will be lucky to get an invtie to an NFL camp. Im sure somebody will bring him in but he is going to have to perform or he could be out of the league in 2 years tops
Dump all the Malcontents
Jerry get rid of these guys that don’t put team 1st. Ross and Osi should be honored to be part of the great Giant tradition. Play without complaining do what you’re asked to do and I’m sure Jerry will find a way to reward you.
Screw Ross and Osi
but welcome back AB!!!!
Solid job JR. Too bad we missed out on Miller, but lets get Boss resigned next. SS12 can wait since he won’t be playing like that anyway
BREAKING FROM RALPH V

that's what I get for not reading...
I thought it said Boss signed for a year.
Damn, illiteracy.
sigh...
your other post makes a lot more sense now...
"Oh sir, the Giants of New York took on the Packers of Green Bay. And in the end, the Giants triumphed by kicking an oblong ball made of pigskin through a big "H". It was a most ripping victory."
yeah...last year he had 15 catches for 123 yds
played for the Cards. Not very good

I know
he isn’t one of the better blocking TEs though. Not a huge fan of his, but hey i’ll take it

by BigBlueIntervention on Aug 1, 2011 5:02 PM EDT up reply actions
this is true
he’s a lot bigger then Pascoe, and probably looks more like a “bear”.
If he’s the #2 TE, we’re fine.
Last night, a comedian died in New York. Somebody knows why. Somebody knows
I liked ballard ah well
but yeah, he is an upgrade to bear

read his scouting report and he's supposedly a "great blocker" and "skilled receiver"
just not much of a vertical or speed threat. Sounds like exactly who the Giants want at TE i.e. no one anyone has to worry about

tho I hope that’s not it for Boss. Patrick sucks.

there's no way we're going into the season with Patrick and Pascoe.
…..right?
"Oh sir, the Giants of New York took on the Packers of Green Bay. And in the end, the Giants triumphed by kicking an oblong ball made of pigskin through a big "H". It was a most ripping victory."
Seriously,
maybe this guy gets cut later.

I forgot we got Bear
I would be willing to give him a shot as the starting TE

0....-1......-2......-3.......
You mean to tell me there isn't ONE photoshopped image of Optimus Prime with a New York Giants logo?? RIDICULOUS!!
I said give Bear a shot I didn't say give him the starting TE position

i know, i actually kind of like bear
i’m just saying there are “certain people” that don’t like that “certain someone” who you’se is talkin about.

We got to sign Boss
There is no back up plan, Unless Becham comes out of retirement and actually turns into a TE
by Late for Dinner on Aug 1, 2011 5:01 PM EDT up reply actions
noooo
can’t we use him at FB? I like Bear
by MrDollarBills on Aug 1, 2011 5:02 PM EDT up reply actions
Call me crazy but sounds like we should have drafted one this year
Could have kept Barry instead of another DT in the 2nd round again
by Late for Dinner on Aug 1, 2011 5:03 PM EDT up reply actions
"another DT"
This Marvin Austin guy was a great pick (it looks like will be..)
by BigBlueDeadHead on Aug 1, 2011 5:07 PM EDT up reply actions
Find wood. Knock on it.
Though early reports are promising.
I'm more pointing to the lack of plan at TE
Not knocking Marvin, but we had some options at DT becasue of depth that we don’t seem to have at TE. Where Boss a middle of the road TE can really screw up our plans if he is not brought back.
Just doing some arm chair GMing that’s all

only if we also "draft" a new O-Coordinator

New OC??
you mean fire the guy who would have been the OC to the best offense in the league if his players could hold on to the ball?? NAW!
Peyton May Have The Wins!!
But Eli Will Have The Rings!!!
Skydiving?Forgot your parachute? TUCK AND ROLLE! On fire? TUCK AND ROLLE Got shot? TUCK AND ROLLE Lost your car keys? TUCK AND ROLLE Failed that history test? TUCK AND ROLLE.
I think we still sign Boss...
Then cut either Patrick or Pascoe. The reality is that Beckum is probably the best receiver of the 4.
We could cut Beckum and nobody would even notice
by Late for Dinner on Aug 1, 2011 5:08 PM EDT up reply actions
I'd be PISSED if they were that dumb.
Last night, a comedian died in New York. Somebody knows why. Somebody knows
Agreed Patrick or Bear get cut.
Beckum might have been a mistake to draft. Will be held onto for another year to prove it probably.
by BigBlueDeadHead on Aug 1, 2011 5:08 PM EDT up reply actions
You can't deny his athletic ability....
Just the wrong fit. Unless we see a significant change in the offense this year.
I think that we may be running a lot of 2 WR/2TE/1RB or 2WR/1TE/2RB sets this year. The offense was almost too aggressive last year, hence the turnovers. Plus if the Eagles retain Asante, keeping in the base package works to our advantage.
Yeah he's not used.
and just taking up space. annoying.
by BigBlueDeadHead on Aug 1, 2011 5:15 PM EDT up reply actions
AGREED.
With AB, BJ, Boss, Patrick, and Hynoski/Bear, we could run a lot of packages of that sort. Especially with Smith being injured.
"Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."
LET'S GO RANGERS!!!
In other news, the Browns did not receive Broderick Bunkley from the Eagles
He went to the Broncos instead.
Good for us. Cleveland pretty much has zero pass rush. They’ll be heavier players in the Osi “sweepstakes”

So happy to have Bradshaw back.
If he is healthy and can hold on to the ball he is a Top RB in this league IMO
well this is interesting:
giantswfan GiantsWFAN
depends $$ patrick got..scout says he’s got GREAT hands – blocking doesn’t stand out….so if boss can get in, maybe beckum on fence #giants
TeamJPP
Stupid computer.
That’s odd, because ESPN says he is a really good finesse blocker, a decent receiver, but meh speed.
i'd like to see what "scout" says that
regardless, i already like him better than beckum
"Oh sir, the Giants of New York took on the Packers of Green Bay. And in the end, the Giants triumphed by kicking an oblong ball made of pigskin through a big "H". It was a most ripping victory."
If the guy can fog up a mirror when he breaths he is already ahead of Beckum

Wasted pick
if I ever saw one, LOL!
Prove we are wrong, Tom "Medicine Man" Quinn, NOT!
thought it was the opposite
tho maybe he’s another Shiancoe
Last night, a comedian died in New York. Somebody knows why. Somebody knows
Here's the ESPN insider take:
Patrick has adequate size for the position and above-average initial quickness and downfield speed. He shows adequate agility and body control in his underneath routes but does not show the kind of downfield speed that can threaten the secondary down the seam. He is more of a blocker than a receiver, although he is not a real powerful inline blocker. He relies more on finesse and technique to turn and seal the edge and will work to sustain his blocks.
Don't get this move.
Maybe Boss is gone?
by BigBlueDeadHead on Aug 1, 2011 5:18 PM EDT up reply actions
He probably didn't cost much
And the Cardinals signed Todd Heap and Jeff King so they probably weren’t looking to resign the guy. It is pretty clear that we won’t go into the season with 4 TEs on the roster so all this means is that one of the four will either get cut or not get resigned (Boss).
We don't have any competition for him
And he’ll start off the season on the PUP list. What’s the rush?
He sounds like he will be on the PUP list anyway
Giants don’t need to rush to sign him, he can’t practice anyway. I doubt another team is giving him a strong offer becasue of his knee situation,.
