Plaxico Burress To The Jets: A Giants' Perspective
You guys know I never thought Plax to the Giants was a good idea. Well, now that he has signed with the New York Jets I penned some thoughts for SB Nation New York.

Sounds like NFL GMs don't expect much from him
1 yr 3M, anything guaranteed?
All of it
The football team in my school, they were tough! After they sacked the quarterback they went after his family.

As much i would have liked Plax back....
Eli’s silence spoke volumes about Plax coming back.
Second Plax and Tom would not have been able to coexist peacefully, Tom is a perfectionist and Plax is not. I think Plax is in a good situation with Rex, a coach who only cares what you do on Sunday, I wish he went somewhere else but, but all in all I’m really glad he didn’t sign with Philly.

I agree with you guys.
I didn’t want him on the Eagles either, I don’t think he’s going to do well, at all.
All though we have diffrent reasons for not wanting Plax on the Eagles
You becasue you think Plax is done, and us because we all think Plax would have givien the Eagles somthing they just don’t have in their WR’s I guess we can call it a win win LOL.

He wasn't worth the headache
would’ve taken playing time from our young guys, and the distraction would outweigh his production.
In Nicks’ second year (which was shortened to 12 games), he posted numbers comparable to Plaxico’s most productive years.

I for one am aok with Plax signing elsewhere. So he signed with the Jets, who cares? I feel he would have been a distraction, brought on by the media and disgruntled fans calling into sports talk radio fanning the flames. plax needed to start over with a new team. Plus, and most importantly, the Giants need to spend their remaining cap money on re-signing Ahmed Bradshaw and Kevin Boss, plus, any other additions they may need moving forward. We can all appreciate Plax’s contributions to the playoff and super Bowl wins. I feel that it was not appropriate to welcome him back at this time.
My guess is that Plax and his agent were the ones that wanted a 1 year deal.
There’s no way anyone was going to give him a lucrative long-term deal after 2 years on the pokey and at age 34, so not getting tied up at cheap money (think Vick in Philly) makes sense.
Of course, Plax assumes he’ll be All-World and then get the big contract as a free agent next year, but he’s got a calendar problem. A long-term big money deal for a 35 year-old at the WR position is really, really tough to get. Just ask T.O.
I think Plax is doomed to a string of 1-Year deals until he is done. Just glad it wasn’t with the Eagles in 2011.
I wouldn't have minded him back
But we can do without him. Solid article. I can agree with those points. It’s over with, we can finally move on to bigger and better things, and at least his green and white jersey isn’t that of the Iggles. I think it’s a good deal for the Jets though.
I'm glad
I really wanted Plax back until the lead up to his meeting with TC- him talking about how TC needed to apologize too just seemed like he wasn’t really sorry about anything.
I don't think we should resign Homer Jones either
Plax was one of the all-time greatest receivers in Giants history. Great to have him trying to make a comeback, and in New York. In history some chapters already have an appropriate ending and shouldn’t be rewritten. Good Luck Plax, I’ll be cheering for you everytime you step on the field. Unless you are playing against Big Blue.
