Reports: Osi Umenyiora A No-Show As Giants Open Training Camp

Stay connected for news and updates

Well, the Osi Umenyiora question has been answered. At least the first one, about whether or not he would show up today at the Timex Performance Center when the New York Giants reported for training camp. Osi did not show up for physicals, and is not expected for a 1 p.m. team meeting.

Is Osi technically now a holdout? Well, even the Star-Ledger's Mike Garafolo isn't sure. As MG tweeted, however, "his not showing today won't sit well with the coaching staff or the front office."

Umenyiora, who filed a sworn affidavit as part of the Brady anti-trust lawsuit claiming the Giants had lied to him about his contract. Umenyiora has two years left on a six-year deal, but wants a new contract.

The Giants have defensive ends Justin Tuck, Jason Pierre-Paul and Mathias Kiwanuka. Certainly, though, they would like to keep Umenyiora, since pass rushers are not easy to find. It will be interesting to see how much uglier this gets.
