Giants Select Prince Amukamara, CB, Nebraska
The pick is in. The New York Giants took Prince Amukamara, CB, Nebraska with their first selection in the 2011 NFL Draft. Back with more thoughts later, gang. For now, the floor is yours.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
I can’t believe he fell down to 19.
I was expecting Castanzo
But oh well. WOO HOO
Why won't god let us beat the Eagles?
BPA is the way to go
All of a sudden, we have a great secondary. By the way, this is why mocks are a joke.
Anybody wanna feel like a prince?
Go check out the Eggs board….they are pissssssed lol

Unbelievable
Didn’t want any of the OL or LB there. We address arguably our weakest area at the moment with a primo athlete and player with an awesome name. So fuckin sick.

You can argue that we had bigger needs elsewhere but truly this is BPA and very well could be steal of the first RD with the Ecpetion of Detroit lol

I like the pick. Typicall G-Men draft the highest rated player on the board. Nice pick
Nice to see you around Landeta....
And I think the Giants Christmas came early!
unbelievable
never did I think this dude was there. No one expected him to be anywhere close.
People were saying he’s a very good player, but not really a top 10 player even tho he’d go that high.
At #19 he might be a bigger steal then Fairley at #13

Last night, a comedian died in New York. Somebody knows why. Somebody knows
surprize!
had to take him, too much value to pass up, now be aggresive to get your tackle you need!!!
We clearly need help dealing with Eagles and others' WRs
and this is a very bright, talented kid. I’m a little concerned having watched the Youtube piece with him vs. Justin Blackmon, but these are plays out of one game. Prince joins our other scions of royalty.
Absolutley Shocked
I was expecting the Giants to take an offensive lineman probably the one from BC or Ingram however when the pick was announced I could’nt believe it. Every place I read had them going O-line or possibly Ingram if he was available because Bradshaw is a free agent and his fumbles.
when you read those sites
where was Prince Amukamara drafted? Top 10? Top 15? Jerry Reese says thank ya.
Second only to pass rushers, can never have enough top flight CBs.

Giants' secondary
now has four first rounders (Prince, KP, Rolle, Ross) and three second rounders (Webster, TT, Grant). Not too shabby.

Ross the returner
One way to get something out of him.
Great depth though – Ross. There are 3 CBs on the field a lot. One gets injured, Ross steps up.
I am one who has not writen him off yet. He may be the best 4th CB in the league.
I might pitch a fit but I won't put on my brakes. Stand in the Fire.
Love the pick!
We usually get good O-lineman in the mid rounds and this was too good to pass up. Top ten talent here!

Hes great with cb’s and im sure he was drooling gasoline when he kept falling. Coach FUEL baby. Defense is going to be nasty this year. Especially d line.
hows kiwi health btw?
"they try to do what he do, and been where he's been, but they get folded in two.....he's the dude"
I came here
to say the same thing. I’m a husker fan and he’s one of the best we’ve had in a while. He does well straight man-2-man, but he also played in a defense that flooded the field with DBs.
Nebraska fan here as well...
…a family member won tickets to Super Bowl 42 in a drawing, and I got to go. (I’m not a Giants fan but I was certainly rooting for them against the Pats — a happy day for me.) I was wearing a Nebraska shirt. While there, I met two separate Giants fans who both loved the Huskers and had been to games in Lincoln. Hard not to think of those guys now, I’ll bet they’re both happy as clams.
I can hardly believe the Giants got Amukamara. As you know, it’s hard to overstate what a steal this is for the G-Men. I don’t think you’ll see many QBs throw in his direction once he gets his bearings in the NFL. He is Mr. Shutdown.

ESPN debunks some of the Blackmon chatter regarding Prince
NOTE: Biggest matchup problem was versus Justin Blackmon (Oklahoma State) in 2010 but Amukamara did not play as poorly as many seem to think. Blackmon pushed off on a 36-yard catch in 2nd QTR. Amukamara runs step-for-step with Blackmon on a debatable 2nd QTR pass interference penalty. And while Amukamara does get beaten for an 80-yard TD on a 2nd QTR flea-flicker, he shows recovery speed to get back into the play. From that point on, Blackmon was targeted three times versus Amukamara and caught one pass for three yards.
Strikeouts are boring- Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.
Good find

He’s not going to be any good until 2013, wonder why the Jets passed on Ayers?
solid pick for the Jets tho
tho Kiper swooning over him is a bit funny.
Also funny was how they were shatting all over the Prince pick, like that wasn’t the steal of the draft.

Profootball weekly:
Amukamara slid in large part because of concerns teams had about his perceived quirky personality and questions about how well he would fit into an NFL locker room.
Quirky personalities are reasons to drop? Geez, I thought the red heads can’t play quarterback thing was bad

But it kills his draft stock, They talking 5th for him, even with the droppers, I doubt there is much in round 4, I might grab him better than a guy who can’t make the roster
but Mason Foster, please

OLB & TE in the next rounds
Keep an eye on a OLB from OK. Beal. Runs great, big kid.Ayers may be gone by then and no need to trade up. Love to have Rudolph at TE but the kid from FIU, Housler can make plays down field, good hands, blocking not the best, but will give Eli another solid target.Need to add depth behind Boss as far as pass catcher goes.Plenty of solid RB’s coming. Daniel Thomas from K-State,Bradford from USC. WR from Boise,Pettis has potential for late round pick. Had to take Prince. Mayock on NFL network said Giants were being faithful to their board and doing the right thing….Just observation, but is ESPN’s coverage getting old? NFL network far superior.
