Who is your #1 favorite Giant of all time?
There is a long list of candidates and for you older folks, this will be a much harder decision than it will be for a youthful chap like myself. I will tell you why I love Michael Strahan. Who is your favorite?
Growing up I absolutely loved Dave Meggett telling my father he was "my hero." I dont know why I was a little boy.... Now that I am older and realize he was a child molesting piece of trash, I have moved on.
I will have to say that my favorite Giant of all time has to be Michael Strahan. I started off as a die hard Giants fan during some rough times. While all the kids my age were defecting to Dallas, I stayed True Blue and went through some tough years in the 90's. I grew up watching Michael Strahan absolutely dominate no matter who was blocking him. Double teams, triple teams, fullbacks, runningbacks, chipping tight ends, pulling guards, fast qbs, it did not matter nothing stopped him. He was truly the only dominant player that the Giants have had since I have understood the game of football the way I do now.
He also had an extremely hard to hate personality, especially if you were a Giants fan. He kept it PG for his whole career, but somehow managed to be a PG tough guy. Remember the year we won the super bowl and he ate that sandwhich during a post game interview after a bad loss? "I wanna see your face when you ask me this question!" Or when he said after the Cowboys game about TO, "Maybe he and Crayton can get some popcorn when they watching us from home next week" Im sure there is older stuff he did in the media that some of you more seasoned fans can remember, but those are the recent two that stick out on my mind. And then you got week 1 against the Redskins in 2008 when he came running out of the big blow up Lombardi trophy. I was there in the stadium and is was EFFIN awesome. Even now he bleeds blue as a sportscaster and we all see him every week so I wont go into what he does now. He is a regular celebrity filling in for Regis and all that.
That man will forever be welcomed in Giants stadium for as long as he lives, and the Maras need to seriously consider retiring number 92 for the New York Giants because I NEVER want to see another name on a jersey with number 92.

Rodney Hampton
just a tough, tough player who came to work every day and carried the offense for some horrible teams. He played with some of the worst QB’s in Giants history, when every team knew that he would touch the ball 20+ times a game. Yet I never knew him to complain about his role, or his weak ass supporting casts. He ran hard, ran hurt, and never took games off. His running was sometimes the only offensive highlights to look forward to. His jersey was a birthday gift when I was 15, and it still hangs on my den wall.

Eli Manning.
I don't always hope for draft picks, but when I do, I prefer Owen Marecic.

No one will ever wear the 92 for us again.

Quick story: When I was about 10 I was at a preseason game with my father, and it was garbage time. We used to like focusing on a single player for a handful of plays in a row to see how the guy handled himself, something I still do today (gotta liven up garbage time somehow). Anyway, we spent about 10 minutes watching this one guy on the defensive line who was not only utilizing the same exact move play after play, but having zero success doing it. I mean he was getting thrown around. So we’re sitting there ragging on this bum, predicting a short and laughable career, and just generally dismissing any chance of him making the squad, much less contributing in any way. “What’s his name anyway?” my dad asks me. I reply with “The program says Stra-HAN, STRA-han, whatever, I’m not sure how you pronounce it. However you say it, he’s terrible.” Good call 10 year old me.

And we all know how to pronounce it now, don't we? :-)

LT
he took the giants from suckers to superbowl champs
George Martin...
Was a part of a great many good things for the Giants for a lot of years, and a major piece of glue that helped keep things from falling apart. Scored low for star points, but got the job done for a long time.
How about that walk across America for 9/11 families?
Great man, great player, great GIANT

How many of you remember...?
In the 70’s my favorite was Doug Kotar, He did everything out of the backfield, ran, caught, and returned kicks. It was a shame that his life was cut so short, I think he could have been one of the best.
Another good choice.
A latter day Joe Morrison (not as versatile)
Great point
To me, Joe Morrison and Rosie Brown will always be remembered as all time greats. They were Mr. Giants
#47, I think?
I do remember him a little, I was very young then.

Joe Morrison
Played tailback and receiver from 1959-1972, always caught the ball (holds the Giants team record for career receptions), then was the head coach at my school, the University of South Carolina, where he led the Gamecocks to their only 10 win season. His jersey number (40), is retired by the Giants.
I remember "The Old Pro" outrunning Pat Fisher on a long TD catch....
late in both of their careers, and it almost looked like the real time catch and run was in slow motion, as both of them had lost a step (or three), but Morrison got it done. He also played multiple positions and pretty much was a plus whereever he was used.
My favorite eagle
is their Superbowl MVP.
