Quick fun post, not scheme-related this time. (I'm lucky enough to be attending some excellent clinics with great speakers this week, so I'll get back to some x's and o's soon).
Today I heard the Redskins guys talking on local espn radio, and they were taking calls on Redskins "what if's." The most popular ones were "What if Sean Taylor were still here" and "what if we had drafted Adrian Peterson instead of LaRon Landry." I thought there were some good thoughts (yes, from Redskin fans) and figured it would be a fun topic here at BBV.
What do you guys think? Some ground rules:
- Let's keep it within the 90's or later.
- Try to keep it civil as well, so if anyone says they always wonder what if the giants had picked up Jamarcus Russell a year ago, you don't have to tear their head off.
- Finally, let's avoid draft "what if's" that were completely out of reach. I don't know what the Giants would look like with Ndamukong Suh, and I never wondered about it because it would have been implausible to get him. Trading up "what if's" should be limited to moving a few picks.
One of mine would be- what if the Giants had drafted Jon Beason instead of Aaron Ross in 2007? Would having a playmaking LB there alleviate some of our defensive struggles over the past 2-3 seasons? I think it would be good, but I can't forget Ross was absolutely crucial to our defense that year, especially in the playoffs.
That's just one example though. Let's hear it BBV-what is your biggest Giants' "what if" moment?
