One of the topics up for debate in regards to the draft is at the RB position. Several others and I had all agreed that Mark Ingram would be a value pick at 19, but his 40 time is concerning at 19 may actually be too high for a rotation back that's slower than our 6' 4" 224lbs behemoth in Brandon Jacobs.
We want speed, but we also want a RB with excellent pass catching skills, but the draft is not just about finding talent, it's about talent and value since the NFL is also a business. An interesting prospect to consider is Mario Fannin. Now with Cam Newton at the helm, its easy to understand why most of you may not be familiar with this guy but, he sounds like a beast and just what we need as a #2 back. He seems highly underrated and might be a victim of the season Cam put up.
Mario Fannin RB, Auburn
Ht: 5' 10" Wt: 231lbs
Combine 40 time: 4.38
Interesting tidbit: AU career leader in receptions and receiving yards by a running back.
Look him up if you have the time, he's actually listed as a RB/FB/WR/HB
And get this, he's projected to be available in the 6th - 7th rounds.
Not to mention, it'd be freakin' awesome if we had Mario Manningham & Mario Fannin so we can nickname'em; The Super Mario Bros. You already knew it was happening.
