Kenny Britt vs Hakeem Nicks

First fanpost here. With another story popping up about Kenny Britt it leads me to remember my thoughts back in the 2009 draft.

I remember leading up to the 2009 draft we all knew that the Giants were going to take a WR. With the aftermath of the Plax drama, it was no secret we needed to get a big playmaking WR to replace him.  It was basically a tossup between these 2 guys as to who we would draft, Britt or Nicks.

I don't remember hearing any character issues surrounding Britt other than he was relatively young but I liked his size and felt a little biased towards him because he was the hometown guy being at Rutgers and all.  I had also heard that Rod Smith, the great former Bronco WR, was working with him on route running and training with him.  I thought he'd be a great fit for us.

Nicks was the more polished guy, played at a bigger school and maybe a little more heralded than Britt. However, there was a lot of talk about poor work ethic and that he had put on a lot of weight after suffering a pulled hamstring or groin (don't remember which).  I just felt that laziness or poor work ethic would not suit the Giants well.

After the draft, I wasn't disappointed when we got Nicks, but I kinda wanted us to get Britt instead.  I couldn't have been more wrong.  I'm really glad we got Nicks instead and I think he's gonna be a top 10 WR in the NFL for a long time. Britt has really shown immaturity with some of his off the field problems and hasn't been as productive on the field as Nicks either.

What do you guys think?
