Could LeRon McClain fit as a Giant? You betcha
Word on the street says LeRon McClain wants to play for a team willing to give him the ball. Well, the Giants have two needs: someone to block for people carrying the ball and an extra body carrying the ball. McClain has demonstrated such an awesome, humble attitude in not going public about his misgivings with the carry distribution, unlike a certain someone, that I would love to have the guy on my team. McClain was a touchdown maker just 2 years ago, and I think if they hadn't phased him out this past year in order to give McGahee some playing time and Rice some goal line looks, it would've been the same.
The thought of having McClain on my team is an exciting one. What do you guys think?

Well he'd certainly fill our need for a true FB...
And would be cheaper than Mike Tolbert.
He could spell Brandon Jacobs/Ahmad Bradshaw (assuming both, either/or are still here) on short yardage/goal line situations to save them some punishment.
Red stripe, blue paint, them other teams scared but Big Blue ain't.
i would pesonally rather draft mark ingram, and then a true blocking FB. we could then have another 3-headed monster
Dear FOX...
Fire Aikman and replace him with Strahan please
Bunga Bunga Party anyone???
You want to draft a FB?
Eh I’d rather go thru FA. I agree on Ingram though.

Loved watching McClain highlights when he was running the ball
Could be a cheaper option than Jacobs. Hungry to prove himself. Hits the hole hard.
I wouldn't replace Jacobs, I'd rather keep Jacobs, but get McClain as a FB. We all remember what our running game was like when Madison Hedgecock was good, and it'll free up Bear Pascoe.

mcclain would work for me
As for Ingram I’m sure he won’t be on the board at 19, and If he is I’m sure JR wouldn’t be able to resist. Also that would be the end for either AB or BJ or both.

JR can't resist Ingram?
If Ingram was a top ten prospect and fell to us this might be true, but he is rated from 15-21 overall as a prospect depending on the site you check. JR could easily go with him or a player at at a different position with a similar mid first round grade. McClain would be a nice pick up.

Site =/= JR's board
JPP wasn’t a top 10 pick according to many sites, but he was to the Giants. Also Ingram’s stock is only at 15-21 since no one yet knows his 40 time. If he runs a low 4.4 or a 4.3, he’ll be listed as a top 10 pick but all the meaningless sites.

I will be shocked if he runs that type of time
but I agree that if he does he will surely move up.

JR's prospect ratings are all that matters each teams isn't the same. some he may be ranked top 5, others he may be ranked 20-30

True JR's board is all that matters
However, we don’t have access to it. All we can use to discuss these guys is where they are being rated. Given the info we have, I stand by my analysis.

If we cut Jacobs and don't draft anyone
yea.
I’m not sure what sort of money he’s gonna want, but if he’s gonna FB money then OK.

Jacobs and McCLain
I’ve never understood why we didn’t use BJ like the Ravens do McClain. I’ve been screaming (at my TV) to get both he and AB in the backfield at the same time, misdirection, options, quick handoffs to the up man, etc. That being said, McClain only makes sense if Jacobs is gone and I wouldn’t be surprised if someone gives McClain a Jacobs-esque contract (4 yr, 16 mil).
Reminds me of picking up Rueben Droughns...
Dude layed people out when needed. He was solid the first seven games or so in 2007, 6 tds, then got hurt which opened the door for Ward to breakout and for the rest to stay healthy. Get Rolando!

McClain would give us a nice 1-2-3
RB grouping if we were to keep Bradshaw and Jacobs, as well as being a Pro Bowl FB. The thing is, he is a two time Pro Bowler coming off of a season were he made a little less than 3 mill. so what do we reasonably sign him for on the open market? 3.5 mill.? Signing him would more than likely give us the priciest backfield in the NFL, one of the best but still, the salary cap ramifications would be huge for the next two years at least. I wouldn’t mind him rushing and receiving out of the backfield but I don’t see it financially.

It;s one reason I'm not opposed to letting Bradshaw test the FA market and go elsewhere.
Red stripe, blue paint, them other teams scared but Big Blue ain't.
Well we didn't secure Rolando McClain
and we’re not going to sign McLean Stevenson or Shirley MacLane for that matter, so the only McLain left to sign would be LeRon McClain – See that was easy. I am so glad I purchased that “easy button” at Staples over Christmas.
Remember to engage brain prior to posting.....thx !
How about John McLean?
You know that guy goes hard and never dies quits.
John McLean.....
Priceless – Give that man a contract !!
Remember to engage brain prior to posting.....thx !
Ooops.
I thought you were talking about the Oakland Raiders middle linebacker that I had hoped the Giants would get in last years draft. I’d like him to be a Giant.
