Chris Palmer Named Offensive Coordinator For Tennessee Titans
Well, you can forget about Chris Palmer returning to the New York Giants as quarterbacks coach. Or, in the dream scenario for some of you, as offensive coordinator in place of Kevin Gilbride.
Palmer has been hired by the Tennessee Titans to be their offensive coordinator.
Palmer was Giants quarterbacks coach from January of 2007 to January of 2010. He "retired" from the Giants only to surface as head coach/general manager of the Hartford Colonials in the United Football League.
Palmer was previously head coach of the Cleveland Browns, posting a 5-27 record in 1999 and 2000, and had previously been offensive coordinator with the Houston Oilers and under Tom Coughlin in Jacksonville.
There was thought when Palmer left the Giants for the UFL that his ultimate goal was a return to the NFL as either a head coach or coordinator. The Titans have now given him that larger role.

There was no way he was coming back for the same spot
and no way we’re firing Gilbride, so he won’t be our OC this season.
Last night, a comedian died in New York. Somebody knows why. Somebody knows
This is all fine and well
But why did he say he was retiring?
Couldn’t he be a man about it and say he wanted to do bigger and better things?
Self-praise is for losers. Be a winner. Stand for something. Always have class, and be humble.
-John Madden
because saying "I retire" has a different ring to it....
as opposed to “I quit”…
but yeah, that’s pretty much what he did.

Just another example
of the giants letting another quality coach slip through their fingers.
"Can't win with Tom Quinn"
Is this guy really good?
Us Titans fans are really, really not impressed by this hire. Is there any reason from optimism from this guy?

Not really.
He was good here as teh QB coach mainly since he’s got Eli to work with. Also who really knows how good he was at that, people like to point to the increase in INTs when he left but that could have nothing to do with each other.
He was good in Jacksonville as the OC under Coughlin. Stank in Houston as the OC.
The Titans talent level is more so at those Jaguars level, so I’d say it could work out fine. But I wouldn’t be excited or pissed at it.

Relax.
He is a good QB coach. He is not that great of an OC – that’s a totally different animal. No big deal, wish him the best, but I would let your hemorroids rattle you about him going to the Titans. All we need is to get rid of Killdrive and Quinn, I do not know what OC/ST candidates are outthere to make an argument but I look around…
So now it's been reported that he left cus of a contract dispute with the Gmen...
This is just great….
I just saw that....and the exact reason....
the Giants had blocked him from interviewing for OC positions and he had asked if they would put it in his contract that he would be allowed to interview to become an OC.
they said NO.
that is just unbelievably short sighted IMO…and i’m glad CP called their bluff and quit on them….
The only sense it makes to me was that the Giants actually thought KG would get another job elsewhere and than Palmer would have been OC here…
