3 Things The Giants Must Do to Beat Dallas
- Play Antrel Rolle exclusively at FS: Dallas has a big play threat that can destroy you over the top. Deon Grant and Tyler Sash do not have the range to cover a lot of ground in back of the defense but Antrel does. Also Tony Romo will put a minimum of 2 balls up for grabs. We need a guy at the back end of the defense who can make plays.
- Stop the Run: Demarco Murray is good, but he isn't the best RB in Texas by a long shot. The Giants should be able to contain him. Again with Rolle at the back of the D to cut off any breakout runs the Giants can force the ball into the hands of Tony Romo.
- Take Long Shots over the Top: For years this Dallas team has been vulnerable to the long ball. This year is no different as Miami showed on Thanksgiving. The Giants need to be willing to take shots down field knowing that the results will be there if they stick with it.

Totally agree on #3.
Although I’d like to see them pick their spots a little more practically than they’ve done most of the season. I love the Giants aggressiveness in the pass game, and Eli throws a great deep ball. That said, I really have a problem with their 1st down offensive production, most of which in my opinion comes from their overuse of deep, low percentage passes on 1st down. Don’t get me wrong, a little of that is great. Too much of it is a detriment to the offense as a whole. It’s so difficult to succeed after an incomplete pass on 1st down. You follow that with the obligatory and completely obvious run play on 2nd down, which never gains much, and you’re left at 3rd and 8, at best. I’d love to see more short throws (WR screens, swing passes, etc.) worked in on 1st down to compliment the down field throws. All of this is a really long winded way of saying “gain some yardage on first down”.
Agree
This game will come down to big plays. Need to stop the deep pass. This is one game I want to see the Cover 2. Bryant has killed us on deep balls. He outjumps our guys one-on-one. We have won games where Witten caught 10 balls for 100 yards.
By the same token, their safeties are weak and corners not much better. Play the game like we did against Green Bay. But if there pass rush starts getting pressure, switch to the short stuff we used against NO. The power run game could work as well, needs to be given a shot.

4. Score more points.
we keep not doing that.
nygmen123: Again, without Vick or Maclin, or Cromartie. Injuries don't seem to bother them. They just bring in guys to make plays

get the ball, consume time while possessing the ball, score when we have the ball

You are flat out missing a few of the most important things to look for in this game:
1. NYG’s Oline against the Dallas pass rush, specifically, DWare. (I hate his comments about Tuck wanting to be a Cowboy, btw. He’s one of a handful of dudes I don’t want fired up this week. SMH) Your line’s injuries are piling up. Hope that bench is deep.
2. Cowboys’ Oline against a fired up Tuck and JPP. Romo might be running for his life all day.
3. Giants NEED to take Tony Fiammetta out of the game. Our rushing attack is really night and day without him.
WITH Fia – 145.8 rushing yards per game and 5.8 per carry. Record = 5-1
WITHOUT Fia – 83.8 rushing yards per game and 3.3 per carry. Record = 2-4
Yep, he’s playing this weekend…and isn’t your D giving up 127yds/game?

Forgot to add:
Good luck Sunday. I’m hoping for a Cowboys blowout, but the realistic side of me just prays for an injury free, clean game. Should be a GREAT one, either way.

I hope Eli feels that way...
…then again, maybe I don’t!
Here’s an interesting tidbit concerning playoff probabilities depending on who wins this game:
If Dallas wins, they have an 88.8% chance of getting into the playoffs, and the Giants’ probability would drop to 10.1%.
If the Gmen win, their chance of going to the playoff jumps to 64.2%, while Dallas’ chances would slip to 30.8%
Can you say “big game”? lol

the way i see it
if the Cowboys win, they’d have to go 0-3 while the Giants went 3-0 for us to win the division. Ain’t gonna happen. You win Sunday, you’re the 4 seed.
If the Giants win, we are tied (H2H tiebreaker to us) with 3 games to go (with pretty similar degree of difficulty) followed by the season ender. both 7-6
If we lose that season ender, you will have had to have gone 0-2 vs TB and Philly while we go 2-0. Unlikely.
Basically, the Giants must sweep the Cowboys because if we don’t, you will have the tiebreakers (div, conf) in place to take an identical record to the playoffs.

It could set up for a very exciting finish. This Sunday can't come soon enough!
Are there any scenarios where our teams see e/o again in the playoffs?

Tony Flametta as one of the top 3 things to accomplish?
Is this Jerry Jones? No seriously.
It could be worse. I could be a Jets fan.

1) We know about Ware
the line is in better shape then last season too, so just stop with that noise. Ware will get a sack or two, but other then that he won’t factor much in the game as he always does against the Giants. Sorry.
2) LOL Tyson Smith. Time for that blocking TE to get shown up and Doug Free to be set free.
3) Not worried about anyone rushing D anymore. Giants cleaned that up, not gonna be an issue.
