There was a surprise addition to the New York Giants' injury list today when coach Tom Coughlin revealed that wide receiver Hakeem Nicks did not practice due to strained hamstring suffered during the victory over the New York Jets. That, as much as the presence of Darrelle Revis, helps explain Nicks' sub-par one-catch game.
"He really didn't have that other gear, which you probably observed," Coughlin said.
The coach said that he dis "optimistic" both Nicks and Mario Manningham (knee) will be ready for Sunday's winner-take-all game against the Dallas Cowboys.
"We have a little bit of time left. I would like to see them both practice," Coughlin said. "That has not been something that has been available all year long. We need that and we certainly need the timing work."
On the positive side, Osi Umenyiora reportedly practiced. That is a surprise after earlier reports this week indicated he would still be unable to go. It will be interesting to see how Umenyiora's ankle, which has caused him to miss four games, responds to the work.
