Giants Cowboys Round 2 Matchup Ratings
It's round 2 Giants vs. Cowboys and I think when we first saw the schedule we all thought it might come down to this. Here is a quick look at some of the key matchup advantages/deficiencies both teams have as they line up against each other:
Giants Tackles vs. Demarcus Ware: Edge Cowboys. Pretty simple here. With Will Beatty out the Giants tackles are not very good against speed rushers and Ware very well may be the best.
Giants Secondary vs. Cowboys Wideouts: Edge Cowboys. Dallas has an excellent trio of wide receivers. The Giants have one very good corner. One average corner two inconsistent safeties and a question mark at nickel corner.
Giants LB's vs. Jason Witten: Advantage Cowboys. Giants LB's have a tendancy to get lost in coverage (Although J Will did have some nice plays last week) and Witten has been a top 5 TE in the league for the last 5 years.
Giants Defensive Line vs. Cowboys OL/RB's: Advantage Giants. Reports are that Jerry Jones may be on the sideline again this week. To put himself in at RB. Dallas has been decimated by injury and will also be missing their starting RG this week. It could make it very tough to run the ball.
Giants WR's vs. Dallas Secondary: Advantage Giants. The Giants bring in a trio of playmakers assuming Mario Manningham can give it a go this week. The Dallas secondary is poor and gets exposed by their RR's play calling schemes.
Giants Ground Game vs. Dallas D-Line: Slight Advantage - Giants. Going with this based on the past 3 weeks, however this is certainly not a given going into week 17.
Special Teams: Advantage Dallas. With a big time playmaker in Dez Bryant who can return punts the Cowboys are the only team with a proven playmaker on specials.
Tony Romo vs. Fate: Advantage - Giants. I maintain that I have seen few players in the NFL who have worse luck than Tony Romo. The guy could play flawlessly for 59 minutes and have one play happen in the last minute that will cost his team the game. It happens way too often and I am beginning to wonder if his teammates go into these games waiting for the other shoe to fall off.
Well there is my take on the key match ups. Looking forward to seeing your takes!

Witten did was held to 2 catches a few weeks ago
so i wouldnt count out the giants LBs, Williams is more than fast enough to cover Witten

Agreed and definitely not counting them out
But on paper going in I need to give Dallas the edge.
It could be worse. I could be a Jets fan.
Great post.
Very unbiased and accurate. I would say it boils down to which team brings there A game. Cowboys are favored to win, but that’s never a good thing

The line is Giants -3
And I love laying the points for this game

Good write-up
I’d just point out that, though they have Dez Bryant at PR, I’m real confident in Weatherford. He’s been fantastic this year.
I'm down with J.T., Osi, and JPP.
Whoever has the ball last wins.
I support the Giants like bras support Kim Kardashian's boobs. It can be a struggle, we've had some jiggles, but we're still firm.

LOL Romo vs. fate.
Not a sarcasm lol just find that funny. Fate kills my boy Romo.
GO YANKEES, COWBOYS, AND KNICKS!
The only athlete I can think of to compare to Romo is...
Greg Norman.
It could be worse. I could be a Jets fan.
He's very talented.
He just needs to get past the divisional round.
GO YANKEES, COWBOYS, AND KNICKS!
